Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Economic justiceBackground
Women in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region continue to face significant structural barriers to meaningful economic participation, particularly in accessing financial services. These constraints limit their ability to start, sustain, and expand enterprises, integrate into regional and global value chains, and compete effectively in both formal and informal markets.
Despite ongoing policy interventions, persistent challenges remain, including limited access to affordable finance, low levels of financial literacy, inadequate business development support, and restricted market entry opportunities. These barriers continue to impede inclusive economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development across Member States
The Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship Development (EWED) Project is designed to address these challenges by aligning with key regional frameworks, including: The SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP 2020–2030), which prioritises inclusive economic growth and regional integration; the SADC Regional Multi-Dimensional Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme (2020–2030), which promotes women’s access to productive resources and economic opportunities; and the SADC Strategy on Financial Inclusion and SMEs Access to Finance (2023–2028), which emphasizes expanding financial inclusion, strengthening SME ecosystems, and improving access to finance.
The project will contribute to strengthening financial inclusion, entrepreneurship development, and trade facilitation for women and young women entrepreneurs, while promoting gender-responsive economic systems and policies. The project will be implemented in four (4) SADC Countries, that is Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique and Lesotho.
Scope of work and specific tasks for the Project CoordinatorThe overall role of the Project Coordinator is to facilitate, coordinate, and monitor the effective implementation and timely delivery of the SADC Project on Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship Development.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Education Movement building YouthIntroduction
Mizizi Elimu Afrika (formerly Zizi Afrique Foundation) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving foundational learning in Kenya and the region. Through the integration of evidence, policy, and practice, Mizizi leverages research as a driver of equitable, inclusive, and contextually grounded education systems. The organization envisions a world where all children and youth have the foundational skills to learn, thrive, and participate meaningfully in their communities.
Purpose of the Assignment
Mizizi Elimu Afrika, in partnership with Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) established the Gender in Education Research Fellowship as part of its Organizational Gender Transformation journey. The Fellowship aims to strengthen the capacity of mission-driven leaders working at the intersection of Gender and Education to accelerate efforts to advance gender-transformative policies and practices in Kenya.
The program onboarded twelve research fellows from both government and non-government organizations. This diversity has ensured a rich blend of perspectives and institutional experiences, critical for addressing systemic gender inequalities. The fellows are engaged in monthly co-creation meetings designed to advance dialogue and collaboration on researchable areas in gender and education. These sessions focus on identifying the root causes of gender problems facing girls and boys, men and women, and on exploring innovative approaches to close gaps in policy and practice. Through the Fellowship, fellows have identified existing research gaps in Gender and Education in Kenya, refined their understanding of gender-transformative frameworks, and designed research topics that respond to pressing national priorities. Further, the Fellowship’s training opportunities serve to build fellows’ capacity on 5 co-created issues in Gender and education, including the intersection between gender, technology, and emerging issues.

Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI) Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' roleBackground/context
Pacific Women Lead (PWL) is Australia’s flagship regional gender equality investment for the Pacific, delivered over 5 years through an AUD 170 million investment. SPC is an implementing partner of the program, working broadly to advance three programmatic outcomes; to promote women’s leadership, realise women’s rights and increase regional effectiveness.
PWL at SPC will commence next phase from July 2026 onwards, with continued funding from the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Much of the foundational work was solidified in the current phase to allow for deepened engagement across the region on the same priorities and increased support for SPC’s member governments.
A key component of PWL at SPC’s next phase is through the SPC Gender Equality Flagship’s gender mainstreaming efforts. Noting that a whole-of-government approach to the integration of gender equality is a priority for governments, SPC will work closely with member governments to implement gender transformative initiatives across key agencies and ministries. Building on the lessons learnt from the Fiji Government’s Institutional Capacity Development (ICD) initiative, SPC will take a regional approach through the establishment of the Pacific Gender-Responsive Institutional Transformation (GRIT) initiative. SPC will work with member governments in a phased approach to implement regional efforts under PWL’s next phase. To initiate the groundwork for Pacific GRIT, SPC requires technical coordination and support in terms of the planning, design and readiness mapping that would be crucial to next phase.
SPC has identified the need for a consultant that holds extensive knowledge and experience in implementing systems strengthening, institutional change and staff capacity building in terms of gender equality prioritisation and gender-responsive initiatives. The consultant will provide SPC with coordination support, advance the planning and design for the Pacific GRIT, and support SPC with establishing scope and key contributions.
Skills and qualifications
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to this work: policy, international relations, Pacific studies, gender and development.
• Minimum 10 years of work experience leading and managing systems strengthening, institutional reform and especially related to gender equality in the Pacific.
• Possesses technical skills on gender analysis, gender-responsive budgeting, coordination of training programmes and capabilities in Pacific regional political economy analysis.
