Child protection/ Children’s rights Movement buildingWHAT WE DO
Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.
We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions.
Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences. Our programmes help girls and young women to develop the knowledge, skills, selfbelief and opportunities to thrive, and to be supported as part of a network that champions them and ensures their voices are heard.
THE ROLE
The Fundraising Manager (Partnerships) role is a fantastic opportunity to lead on developing partnerships with The Girls’ Network's corporate and public sector supporters. The programme is well established with £170,000 worth of partners already on board. There is an opportunity to put your own stamp on the work, developing new collateral and ideas for excellent partnerships. The role is within our Fundraising & Communications team of four staff and works in collaboration with regional Senior Network Managers. There is an opportunity for the post holder to collaborate with the Fundraising Manager (Trusts and Foundations) on the development of grant applications.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
You will have at least five years’ relevant experience as a fundraiser or in other similar roles e.g. marketing or sales, ideally with at least three years working in fundraising and be able to demonstrate previous success in generating income and achieving targets.
You will be an exceptional communicator with the confidence to work on your own initiative and to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will be well organised with excellent attention to detail, work well under pressure and have the ability to think both strategically and operationally.
You have a good understanding of the disadvantages faced by both women and those from the least advantaged communities and have a drive to rectify the inequalities that currently exist.
You thrive on the potential to make a real difference with your work.*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

MasculinitiesPolitics is traditionally a man's world. Despite much progress in recent years, most politicians are still men. What knowledge we have about gender and inequality in politics is mainly based on counting women and men. In contrast, we do not well understand the underlying gendered norms about behavior that is considered inappropriate and appropriate: political masculinities. This project’s research reveals how political masculinities change or persist among voters, elected politicians, leaders, and aspirants. The research results will bring much-needed nuance and depth to a currently polarized but ultimately simplistic debate about gendered inequality in politics. As PhD-student you will study the following research question:
- How are masculinities socialized in political parties?
This study teases out how youth wings view present-day masculinities in society, and it examines their evaluation and their expectations of masculinities by the party leadership and the party. How do youth wings try to challenge or reproduce these masculinities within the youth wing and the party?
The primary method of data collection are focus groups. They will be complemented by participant observation and organizational ethnography. Focus groups are well-suited for studying aspirants as they offer less threatening and less hierarchical settings than individual interviews or survey research. This is particularly useful when studying sensitive issues. Based on open-ended focus group protocols, participants will, in conversation with each other, reflect on the research questions, where and why they agree, and where and why they do not. The project will aim for 40 focus group interviews with six to eight members of youth wings (men and women) that are part of political parties across the political spectrum, including progressive, conservative and populist right wing parties and newer identity-based parties. The focus group interviews, which will last approximately two hours, will be held in places that are safe and easy to reach for participants, be it online or offline.Participant observation is complementary to focus groups and will facilitate access and trust. The PhD-candidate will be ‘hanging around’ in areas where the youth wings or their members meet (congresses, debates, activities, online forums) until the data collection phase is completed. The PhD candidate will conduct organizational ethnography to understand how masculinities are institutionalized within youth wings. The protocol for the organizational ethnography will build on insights from the (ongoing) participant observation and focus groups. Expected data that the PhD-candidate will analyze are written documents, such as statutes and protocols, and norms and values of gender equality (e.g. how young men speak about and threat women and gay members).*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

HealthWho we are Urgent Action Fund-Africa (UAF-Africa) is a consciously feminist and womn’s human rights pan-African Fund registered in Kenya and Zimbabwe. Operating as a virtual organisation, the Fund boasts of strategic presence in Africa’s five sub-regions- East Africa: Nairobi- Kenya, Kampala-Uganda, and Addis Ababa-Ethiopia; North Africa: Cairo-Egypt; Central Africa: Yaoundé and Douala Cameroon; Southern Africa: Harare- Zimbabwe, Lilongwe & Blantyre- Malawi; Antananarivo- Madagascar, Johannesburg, Pretoria & Cape Town- South Africa, Gaborone- Botswana and West Africa: Abuja -Nigeria and Parakou & Cotonou- Benin and and Lomé- Togo. Recognising the need to move resources rapidly on a continent where opportunities and threats arise and decline quickly, UAF-Africa uses a Rapid Response Grantmaking mechanism to support unanticipated, time-sensitive, innovative, and unique initiatives that promote women’s agency in democratic governance, economic, environmental and climate justice, natural resources governance and conflict transformation while protecting their personhood, integrity, and rights.
UAF-Africa is seeking experienced and passionate healing practitioners to participate in the 3rd Feminist Republik Festival, set to take place in Mombasa, Kenya, from 2630 November 2025, with the bold and audacious theme of Regenerating in Crisis: Grounding Healing and Care in the Storm. This iteration of the Festival will center the experiences of African womn’s human rights defenders (AWHRDs) in crisis contexts, the traumas AWHRDs grapple with, how trauma plays out, is remembered, and is compounded in periods of crisis, and why we must center healing when it feels like our worlds are collapsing. At the Fund, the use of ‘womn’ is an act of challenging and replacing traditional ideas of what and who a womn is and can be and the links of women to a system of patriarchy where womn are, in effect, subject to men or a sub-category of men. Additionally, ‘womn’ for us also includes lesbian, bisexual womn and transwomn.
The 3rd Feminist Republik Festival will serve as a vital platform to connect AWHRDs with diverse healing modalities and resources. We are seeking healers who can offer transformative and culturally relevant practices that address the interconnected challenges faced by AWHRDs.
Call for Healing practitioners: UAF-Africa invites expressions of interest from experienced and passionate healers with expertise in areas such as (but not limited to):
• Traditional Medicine: Indigenous healing practices, knowledge of herbal remedies, etc.
• Spiritual Healing: Rituals, energy work, ancestral connection, etc.
• Mental and Emotional Wellness: Therapy, counselling, trauma-informed practices, art therapy, etc.
• Bodywork and Movement: Yoga, massage, dance, somatic experiencing, etc.
