Human rights HealthBASIC SCOPE OF WORK.
HFHI is soliciting consultancy services, with a budget of USD 70,000, to undertake a research project on the intersection of informal settlements, public health, and gender equity; with the basic elements outlined below and further described the Detailed Scope of Work Annex. The annex provides the preferred technical, tactical, and methodological approach. However, HFHI is open to discussing and refining the scope and design of the research, to leverage the consultant’s expertise and ensure the research is conducted efficiently and effectively. Deliverables to HFHI shall include those customarily performed by a think tank, research institution, or consultant firm to a business in the same or similar industry, including, but not limited to, the following:
A. Issue brief of approximately 10,000 words excluding bibliography and annexes. The narrative style should balance technical rigor, appeal to a policy minded G7 audience, and clarity so that content is also relevant to the general public. B. New global statistics that contribute newsworthy hard evidence to policy discussions on informal settlements, public health, and gender equity.
C. Comprehensive country-level dataset that will be used by HFHI to contextualize the global messages at the regional and the national levels.
D. Local ground-truthing of the global statistics that includes the voices of people living in informal settlements in at least three regions of the world. This exercise can be coordinated with HFHI’s network of national offices.
E. Methodological annex that clarifies the framework, process, indicators, and limitations.
F. Validation of with external stakeholders -via a workshop or some other tool- of the policy recommendations prepared by researchers with HFHI staff.
G. Present the research’s findings in at least one internal and one external venue. HFHI will look evaluate proposals by Contractors addressing the above areas, with the additional considerations in the Detailed Scope of Work. We encourage Contractors to provide information about other services which may be offered or provided based on any particular area of expertise.
PROPOSAL CONTENTS.
A. Experience and Qualifications.
The Contractor should describe its experience and qualifications with particular emphasis on those relevant to the services outlined in Section II of this RFP and further described in the detailed scope of work; including:
1. Business overview: General information on the organization including length of time in business, structure, size, areas of expertise, key personnel, key projects, awards and industry recognition. Include client reference information for at least three clients, preferably from comparable clients to HFHI, like INGOs in the sector.
2. Proposed team: Describe the team that will be assigned to this project. Clarify roles, estimate dedication and qualifications per team member. Identify any subcontractors whose services will be needed for this project. Please provide summarized CVs for each team member.
3. Specialized software: If relevant, include a description of the expected software packages used by Contractor in the development of this work.

Role Responsibilities
Operations:
• Ensure the coherent and effective implementation of administrative, financial, and HR guidelines aligning with the overall organizational strategy in collaboration with the Director;

Key performance areas:1. Resource mobilisation strategy
- In collaboration with the Co-Executive Directors and Resource Mobilisation Consultant, implement the resource mobilisation strategy for the organisation.

2. Proposal development

3. Income generation

- Develop business plans in consultation with managers for possible generation of long-term income for the organisation.
4. Donor reporting and relations
- Ensure regular communication with donors, including distribution of Sonke’s newsletter and other relevant materials.
- Ensure that donor representatives are invited to participate in project activities, where appropriate.
- Host annual donor meetings.
5. Administration, database management, development of policies
- Maintain a funding register of grant proposals, tracking proposals that were approved, rejected and those still in the pipeline on a monthly basis.
- Maintain a grant management dashboard which captures all compliance related detail including reporting deadlines.

- Create and maintain all donor files in hard copy and on the shared server.
Requirements
- Degree in Development Studies, Law, Sociology, Industrial Psychology, Business Science, Commerce or extensive related experience;

As a PhD candidate in this project, you will conduct three related studies connected to the overarching research question of the project. The project is currently planned to include a systematic narrative review, a survey research, and a longitudinal design study with experience sampling method (ESM). Job Summary
As part of our new strategy, AWDF is building on our approach of strengthening movement and funded partners to a more transformative and de-colonised approach which gives feminist and women’s rights activists, organisations and collectives in Africa the ownership and space to make transformative choices and impact their communities across the continent.
The Funded Initiative Coordinator – Komboa Initiative is responsible for supporting the implementation of AWDF’s resourcing strategy to strengthen and uphold African women’s and feminist organisations and movements. The role is responsible for the delivery of the resourcing strategy under a defined funded initiative and the relevant fund sub-strategies and priorities that guide how AWDF will help the feminist movement achieve, including:
- Strategic, responsive support to African WR and feminist organisations and movements (e.g. holistic, longer term, increased flexibility)
- Increase our reach to more, diverse women’s and feminist movement actors across Africa
- Adopt and promote more feminist processes and approaches
- Build infrastructure for movements to respond better to change
The role will work in close collaboration with all the clusters and under the leadership of the Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy in a matrix management arrangement with the Programme Manager - Resourcing. The Resourcing team follows a matrix management and cross-cluster operational model. The post-holder will therefore work with and be supported by various clusters and teams.
The role will share an Assistant who will work across the three funded initiatives and the Strategic Implementation Partners Cluster. It will also lead all aspects of the resourcing sub-strategies/ priorities including budgeting/financial management, leadership and staff development, policy development and strategic planning under a defined funded initiative.
Qualifications
- A degree in gender studies or related discipline and at least 6 years of professional experience in a similar role.

- Facilitate the relevant gender-specific discussion groups and provide support to the EMAP Assistant for facilitation of the other gender-specific discussion groups.
- Develop a monitoring and evaluation plan, along with relevant tools, with the support of the Protection Coordinator, Protection Manager, EMAP/GBV Team Leader, and MEAL Coordinator.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and means of verification for all program activities.
- Adhere to data protection policies and procedures, along with protection information management principles and best practices, for all program and project data.
- Draft weekly reports on activities, highlighting any implementation challenges and proposed solutions and adaptative measures, and ensure weekly uploads of data to the activity dashboard.
- Draft monthly and quarterly donor reports with qualitative and quantitative data, elaboration of program successes and challenges.
- Maintain regular contact with community focal points to ensure a constant flow of information and feedback and strengthen their capacity through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Liaise with other project sectors and staff to ensure appropriate internal coordination and collaboration.
- Other activities or tasks relevant to the set-up and successful implementation of EMAP and GBV prevention programming as assigned by the EMAP/GBV Team Leader, Protection Manager, or Protection Coordinator.
- Assist the Protection Team leaders to develop and coordinate emergency rapid needs assessments and responses in line with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements.
- Represent protection department in various partner coordination meetings including PSWG, CP-SSWG, GBV-TWG, MHPSS and government line ministries as relevant.
- Provide training/capacity building to duty bearers, international and local NGOs and IDP communities on protection related issues (guiding principles of IDP protection; child protection; SGBV etc.).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Psychology, Social work, Social Sciences, Counselling, Education, Human Rights, Development Studies or relevant equivalent disciplines.
- Two (2) years work experience in a humanitarian organization / with displacement affected populations or significant experience as a DRC Protection social or outreach worker.
- Knowledge of protection norms, principles, and activities.

Gender-based violence (GBV) Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' roleCARE seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID-funded Communities for Gender Equality (CGE) Activity. This activity will be focused on gender equality and inclusive development in support of Sustainable Development Goal 5. The activity may support interventions that address the full cycle of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention, mitigation, and response.
The COP will be responsible for leadership, management, and technical direction of staff and consultants, project activities such as implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation, and partner coordination. They will serve as key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners.
