The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was launched in October 2019 by Dr. Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors. GSF acts to provide interim reparative measures in situations where states or other parties are unable or unwilling to meet their responsibilities.
Intern Responsibilities
Financing Reparations Workstream (80%)
Under the supervision of the Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer, the intern will support GSF’s research and advocacy agenda on financing reparations, with a particular focus on the development of a dedicated research module on reparations financing, in particular reparation fund structures and governance. Responsibilities will include:
• Conduct legal, policy, and comparative research to support a specific research module on financing of reparations for gross human rights violations(especially) reparation fund structures and governance; drafting background papers, research notes, comparative case summaries, and analytical inputs; assisting with literature reviews, source tracking, and the organisation of research materials relevant to reparations financing and fund establishment;
• Support the operation of the Financing Cluster, including preparation of agendas, drafting meeting summaries, tracking follow-up actions, and ensuring that Financing Cluster discussions and outputs feed coherently into the reparations financing research module, advocacy priorities and are disseminated to the wider organisation;
GSF Online / Knowledge Management – International Advocacy and Policy Team (20%)
In coordination with the supervisor and relevant colleagues, the intern will support the International Advocacy and Policy team’s use of project and knowledge management platform “GSF Online”:
• Support the migration, organisation, and structuring of International Advocacy and Policy materials within GSF Online;
• Upload advocacy contacts, documents and other data onto GSF Online. Other responsibilities may include:
• Upload and organise photos of advocacy activities in Canto, GSF’s visual content platform;.
• Attend advocacy team meetings, GSF staff meetings, partner meetings, as required;
• Assist the International Advocacy and Policy team with other tasks as might be required.
Position Requirements
The position is open to students currently enrolled in a master’s or a post graduate programme in law, international relations, public policy, economics, development studies, or a related field. Please note a tripartite agreement is mandatory for this internship.

Operations and Financial Portfolio Management

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The GEDSI Specialist will provide technical inputs to strengthen integration of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion across the harmonized SP capability development package and related implementation processes. Scope of work:
The DFAT-funded "Breaking the Silence on FGM/C in Southeast Asia" programme, implemented by UNFPA, in partnership with UNICEF, has emerged as a pivotal initiative aimed at increasing the accountability of stakeholders across the region.The consultant will also support the amendment of the FGM MERL framework to include two new countries (Maldives and Sri Lanka) into the regional initiative and will draft a 6 months progress narrative report for the programme.
In details, this individual consultant will
- Submit an inception report outlining the key questions, methodological approaches, tools, sampling of stakeholders and interview guides (target countries: Indonesia, Malaysia and regional level; lighter approach in Maldives and Sri Lanka)
- Conduct online key informant interviews and/or focus group discussions with UNFPA and UNICEF, key partners, Key TUSIP partners, DFAT
- Submit a draft Mid-Term Review report presenting key findings, lessons learned, and conclusions, including (but not limited to): 1) Findings against agreed review criteria, including relevance, effectiveness, coherence, coordination, emerging sustainability, and cross-cutting issues such as disability inclusion, climate change, alignment with the goal of the broad TUSIP initiative; 2) progress against planned outputs and activities, identifying areas of strong performance, bottlenecks, and implementation risks; and 3) review the programme activity logs and draw recommendations for the Year 3,4 activity logs and work plan.

The postholder will provide essential support to drive growth in our media work and online presence; developing engaging and accessible content that reaches and influences target audiences, drives support for our campaigns and builds EVAW’s profile and impact. Creativity, an eye for design, understanding of social change and strong verbal and written skills are central to this fast paced, dynamic and exciting role.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Content creation
• Create engaging and accessible content for social media, the web and e-marketing
• Support with drafting and disseminating press releases, media comments and journalist/producer briefings
• Support the Head of Communications to monitor and manage EVAW’s social media channels, identifying opportunities for engagement and campaign push points, with an eye to the latest relevant trends and developments
• Oversee the communications calendar and coordination of communications activity
Media monitoring and liaison
• Manage incoming media enquiries
• Monitor breaking news and update the EVAW team about stories to respond to
• Monitor and log media coverage and journalist/producer briefings
• Monitor trends in media reporting on violence against women and girls
Publications and resources
• Proofread EVAW reports, briefings and other publications
• Liaise with external designers and printers, drafting creative briefs and supporting with management of the design process
Monitoring, evaluation and learning
• Provide quarterly analytics of social media metrics, web and media analytics to support with monitoring and evaluation of the communications strategy
Anti-racism analysis
• Contribute to strengthening EVAW’s anti-racism analysis and campaigning by bringing knowledge, insight and suggestions
• Demonstrate commitment to ensuring values of anti-racism and intersectionality are threaded into all EVAW’s work
• Actively participate in EVAW’s review of our internal practices and culture in relation to race/ethnicity
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
• Demonstrable commitment to gender equality and human rights and an understanding of how intersecting inequalities affect different women, alongside a clear commitment to anti-racist and anti-discriminatory practice and behaviour
• Demonstrable knowledge of the different forms of and approaches to VAWG, human rights and equality issues and a curiosity to learn
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with experience of writing clearly, concisely and persuasively for different audiences
• Experience of social media management and content creation, with good working knowledge of a range of channels including Twitter and Instagram
• Experience of using Canva or equivalent design software and tools for content creation
• Experience of writing press releases, statements and media comments
• Able to thrive under pressure, a high degree of self-motivation, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Thinks creatively about how EVAW’s communications campaigns can achieve meaningful impact
