GBV / VAWGAbout Badili Africa
Badili Africa is a Pan-African women's rights organization redefining leadership and civic participation by centering the agency of grassroots women and young people who are routinely excluded from decision-making. Founded in 2015 and operational since 2018, Badili works primarily with young women aged 16-30 in tertiary institutions, informal and rural settlements, and chama women (grassroots women organized in merry-go-rounds and informal collectives) who anchor socio-economic and solidarity networks in their communities.
We work at the intersection of civic participation, technology, and movement building, transforming everyday and often overlooked spaces - chamas, salons, campuses, informal collectives, and digital platforms - into sites of civic learning, accountability, and resistance to all forms of violence. Our established networks span Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru, Kisumu, Machakos, and Kisii Counties, with direct reach to over 10,000 grassroots women through 600+ chama groups and a curated network of 100 trained digital influencers and campus organizers.
Background
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Kenya is not only a social or public health concern, but it is a structural and political tool that systematically excludes women, particularly young women, from leadership and public participation. The FemiRise Project is grounded in this understanding. It responds to rising cases of femicide, digital violence, and electoral-related GBV targeting young women across campuses and grassroots communities. Evidence shows that violence, ranging from cyber harassment to physical intimidation, is deliberately used to silence women’s leadership and civic engagement.
While feminist organizations and grassroots actors continue to respond, their efforts remain fragmented, under-resourced, and disconnected across spaces such as universities and community-based structures like chamas.
FemiRise seeks to build the connective infrastructure of a feminist movement by linking:
● Campus-based feminist organizing
● Grassroots chama networks
● Digital activism and storytelling
● Electoral safety and GBV response mechanisms
Purpose of the consultancy
Badili Africa seeks an experienced consultant to support the development of a Feminist GBV Prevention, Response, and Referral Guideline to strengthen coordinated, survivor-centered prevention and response to GBV among young women, feminist organizations, student leaders, women’s chamas, and duty bearers
Essential Experience
● A specialist with an advanced degree in a relevant field, including gender studies, social sciences, public health, law, or development studies.
● At least 5–7 years of experience in GBV programming, policy development, or related areas.
● Proven experience in developing GBV guidelines, toolkits, or similar frameworks for low-literacy and multilingual audiences.
● Strong understanding of survivor-centered and feminist approaches to GBV response.
● Knowledge of GBV policy, legal, and service delivery systems in Kenya.
● Experience working with youth-led, feminist, and community-based organizations.
● Strong facilitation, research, analysis, and report-writing skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and produce high-quality deliverables.*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

Health Sexual & reproductive rights (SRHR)About Global CitizenGlobal Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty. On our platform, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on these issues, and earn rewards for their actions as part of a global community committed to lasting change. Global Citizens have taken over 42.9 million actions since 2009. Today, these actions, in combination with high-level advocacy work, have led to over $49 billion being distributed to our partners around the world, impacting 1.3 billion lives in the fight to end extreme poverty.
Role OverviewGlobal Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens using collective action to help end extreme poverty. We combine citizen-led campaigning with high-level advocacy and partnership building to secure commitments and mobilize resources that drive measurable impact.
Global Citizen is launching a multi-year global campaign to transform demand for and access to contraception and voluntary family planning into a mainstream global cause, grounded in agency, wellbeing, opportunity, and shared responsibility.
This role is anchored in gender health outcomes, with a specific focus on contraceptive access as a driver of agency, well-being, and economic opportunity.
The defining goal of this campaign is to mobilize additional funding in new resources from private sector partners and consumers through Global Citizen’s platforms and campaigns, directing funds and in-kind contributions through established, trusted delivery channels.
This role is the day-to-day campaign lead responsible for building the capital mobilization engine, converting consumer engagement into giving at scale, and securing private sector financial and in-kind contributions that result in delivered resources. This is not an aid program delivery. Success is measured by delivered funding and in-kind value, conversion performance, and the strength of the partnership and execution architecture required to reach campaign goals.
Required Skill and Experience- Ten years of experience in global advocacy, campaigning, partnerships, or government relations, ideally in gender equity, global health, development financing, or related fields
- Demonstrated ability to build campaigns from concept through execution, including narrative strategy, public messaging, and coalition work
- Strong fluency in gender health and rights ecosystem dynamics, with an outcomes-oriented approach to navigating political sensitivity
- Proven ability to mobilize and manage private sector and non-traditional funding pathways, including brand partnerships, corporate giving, in-kind contributions, and innovative consumer engagement mechanisms
- Excellent writing and communications skills, including the ability to produce crisp briefs and partner-ready materials under tight timelines
- Strong project management capability across multiple workstreams and stakeholders, with comfort operating in fast-moving environments
- Collaborative working style and experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external partners across time zones
- Experience working with multilateral systems or established delivery channels is strongly preferred
- Comfort working with measurement frameworks and performance reporting, with a bias toward delivered outcomes, not only announcements

Child protection/ Children’s rights Human rightsBackground and purposeGirls Not Brides is developing a project design for Kenya covering 2027–2030. The design will provide a clear, strategic basis for deciding where to invest, what to fund, and how activities connect into a coherent long-term strategy to reduce child marriage. It must be oriented towards transformational change – deep, lasting shifts in laws, systems or the implementation of commitments – rather than incremental improvements.
The primary purpose is to produce a project design that can be implemented between 2027 and 2030, including a pathway to potential scale-up should further investment be made and subject to available funding. A secondary objective is to capture key facts and insights on child marriage in Kenya in a Project Design Workbook for internal future reference.
Scope of work and deliverablesWorking closely with a small internal design team and guided by the Project Design Workbook, the consultant will lead the design process and deliver:
- Situational analysis covering the national level and up to six high prevalence child marriage counties (political will, policy/legal landscape, funding, programming, civil society, accountability, government stewardship, and key systems).
- 2–3 prioritised opportunities for transformational change, each framed as a problem statement Girls Not Brides is well-placed to address.
- A full project design including theory of change, results framework, tactics (mobilise, equip, influence, fund), geographic focus, sustainability approach, high-level budget, MEL outline, risks and governance.
- A pathway to a scaled-up project, showing how the design could evolve into broader, system-wide impact over time.
- Participation in validation, incorporating feedback from the Secretariat and member organisations into the final design.
- Final documentation: a completed Project Design Workbook and a 2-page summary.
Who we are looking forThe consultant must demonstrate (essential):- Strong, current working knowledge of the child marriage landscape and actors in Kenya – across government, legal, civil society, programme and community levels (consultants based in Kenya or with experience working in advocacy spaces in Kenya are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Proven experience designing high-quality, fundable programmes, including theories of change and results frameworks for policy, , advocacy and influencing work (not service delivery focused projects).
- Experience leading and facilitating strategic planning for social impact, with a consultative approach.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce concise, decision-oriented documents.
- Experience with civil society coalitions, adaptive programme design, and MEL for advocacy is desirable. Full criteria set out in the Information Pack.

Health Human rights Sexual & reproductive rights (SRHR)BackgroundEquality Now is an international human rights organization that works to achieve legal and systemic change to end violence and discrimination against women and girls worldwide. The organization does international and regional advocacy and collaborates with grassroots groups, human rights organizations, and individual activists to promote gender equality through legal and policy reform. Its core areas of work include ending gender-based violence, including sexual exploitation, harmful practice, and discriminatory laws.Within its Ending Gender-Based Violence program, Equality Now promotes strong legal frameworks and effective justice systems that deliver accountability in cases of sexual violence. As part of this work, Equality Now is developing a global guide that identifies key categories of evidence, analyzes common evidentiary challenges, and highlights best practices concerning evidence in the investigation, prosecution and adjudication of sexual violence cases. The guide aims to improve access to justice for survivors.Equality Now seeks to engage current or former legal practitioners as consultants to contribute domestic and regional-specific analysis. Consultants will identify key evidentiary challenges, propose practical solutions, and highlight effective domestic practices.
Objective of the ConsultancyThe consultancy aims to generate country- and/or region-specific analysis on the collection, presentation and assessment of evidence in sexual violence cases, including practical approaches and jurisdiction-specific examples, from a human rights perspective. This analysis will inform the development of a practical guide for legal practitioners and criminal justice actors, including investigators, prosecutors, judges, legal aid providers, and survivor advocates on how to address cases of sexual violence based on international human rights standards. In jurisdictions with consent-based definitions of sexual violence, the consultant, among others, will provide progressive examples of how lack of consent can be established beyond evidence of physical force or victim resistance. In jurisdictions where criminal laws have not yet been brought into compliance with consent-based international standards, the consultant will identify practical evidentiary approaches that can help practitioners better argue survivors’ cases within existing legal frameworks, while avoiding reliance on stereotypes, victim-blaming assumptions or unduly narrow force-based interpretations of sexual violence.
