VOLUNTEER ROLE
Are you fascinated by economics and finance? Are you interested in learning more about financial management in a non-profit organisation, or contributing your existing knowledge and skills to ensuring WiE’s long-term sustainability? We want to hear from you!
WiE was established to advance gender equality in the field of economics. Our goal is to encourage equal opportunity and balanced representation of genders in the economics profession across the academic, business, and public sectors.
As a volunteer member of the finance team, you will work closely with the board and existing members to help oversee financial activities, sponsorship relationships and much more. Financial sustainability is essential for maintaining the long-term functioning of the organisation and its activities.
As a finance volunteer you will contribute approximately 2 hours per week and work in close cooperation with the Treasurer to:
• You will be responsible for processing payments (bank transfers), filing and archiving invoices, and managing daily business operations.
• You will also organise the collection of membership fees at the end of the year.
• As part of the finance team, you will also work on continuously improving our financial processes. We picture a finance volunteer to have:
• A responsible, reliable, organised and communicative orientation.
• The ability to produce high-quality work both independently and collaboratively.
• Experience and/or interest in professional non-profit finance activities, economics and gender inequality issues.
• Native or high-level German abilities are required in this role due to the level and nature of bureaucratic engagement, with high-level English abilities also desired.
WiE welcomes input from people of every gender, age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, ability, background and sector. As a WiE member you will have the opportunity to connect and network with a number of successful young professionals in different industries and countries. If you are interested in joining the WiE team please email and include a short introduction, explanation of why you want to join WiE and your CV.
Please note that The Women in Economics Initiative is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and that this opportunity is also unpaid.
