LGBTQI+ rights/ SOGIESCPhD POSITION
The PhD candidate will play a crucial role in the project by managing local data collection in Switzerland under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and the postdoctoral researcher. They will also help organize two workshops in Zurich, providing them with valuable opportunities to connect with leading scholars in LGBTIQ+ research, social psychology, health research, and global policy. They will further present their work at international scientific conferences and engage with wider audiences. A research stay abroad will also be encouraged.
To enhance their learning experience during their doctoral studies, the PhD student will work on three papers (e.g., combining the minority stress framework with the social cure approach; analyzing differences between countries and subpopulations) in close collaboration with the PI, the postdoctoral researchers, and the international team. Finally, the PhD candidate will receive training in public speaking and will engage in outreach activities to bridge the gap between science and the broader society
Qualifications:

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
The postdoctoral researcher will play a crucial role in the project management. They will assist the principal investigator with a variety of research tasks, which include managing the Department of Psychology Social Psychology translation of the questionnaire, programming the survey, providing feedback on preregistrations by the subgroups, troubleshooting issues, preparing and analyzing data, and facilitating workshops in Zurich. They will also engage in outreach activities, such as writing descriptive summary reports. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher will take the lead on several manuscripts and will contribute to a meta-science manuscript aimed at enhancing global science initiatives. There will be opportunities for collaboration with leading scholars on specific subtopics within the broader project, allowing for international experience through partnerships with prominent figures in the field of Social Psychology, Health Research, and Public Policy. They will also present their work at international scientific conferences. Moreover, the postdoctoral researcher will co-author at least one manuscript with a PhD student, assuming a supervisory role to develop their mentoring skills while co-supervising the student alongside the principal investigator.

COPE OF WORK
1. Special Advocacy Grant (Pilot)
● Lead the pilot of the Special Advocacy Grant (SAG) including a closed call for proposals, selection process, accompaniment, reporting, learning and evaluation
● Design and administer clear criteria for the selection of potential grantees for the pilot
● Collaborate with the Communications team to develop materials to introduce and launch the SAG
● Coordinate and synthesize learning calls with Resourcing Resistance (RR) partners to inform the design of the SAG and to map potential recipients across the region
● Develop and implement a theory of change (ToC) in collaboration with the Insights & Learning team
● Contribute to the impact and learning report at the close of the pilot, documenting lessons for potential scale-up and fundraising.
2. Regional Advocacy and Movement Coordination
● Maintain strong relationships and collaboration with key movement partners that support Purposeful’s advocacy on FGM, access to safe abortion, and ending violence against young women, girls, and gender-diverse youths across sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)
● Represent the organisation in national and regional coalitions in response to ongoing threats to Purposeful’s advocacy agenda and contribute to regional advocacy strategies.
● Support Purposeful’s regional and global engagement at spaces such as ECOWAS, AU, Regional CSW
● Track and regularly report on the progression of regional litigation, policies, campaigns and conventions related to FGM, access to safe abortion, and ending violence against young women, girls, and gender-diverse youths
● Provide and regularly report on Sierra Leone’s policy positioning after major regional or global engagements (e.g., post-SFC) - mapping reach, tactics, and impact.

Gender-based violence (GBV)Background The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was launched in October 2019 by Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, 2018Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations and other forms of redress for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors. Consultant’s responsibilities
Technical
• Provide technical support on the activities included in the Colombia programme, aimed at strengthening the effective guarantee of the right to reparation in alignment with international human rights standards, particularly regarding to the right to reparation for conflict related sexual and reproductive violence;
• Assist in the implementation of a bottom-up and survivor-centred approach in the technical analysis and project implementation, ensuring that local contexts, community dynamics, and victims’ perspectives meaningfully inform project priorities, strategies, and outputs;
• Provide input on the legal, institutional and public policy framework in Colombia related to comprehensive reparation with a focus on conflict-related sexual and reproductive violence;
• Compile and organise information on experiences, lessons learned, and emerging practices related to the implementation of the right to reparation for victims of sexual and reproductive violence in Colombia;
• Follow up on technical and operational agreements with partners, stakeholders and tracking commitments, timelines and agreed actions as well as flagging implementation issues to the Project Coordinator as appropriate.

• Organise and document meetings, workshops, and project-related activities, ensuring appropriate follow-up on agreed actions;
• Facilitate engagement and information flow with institutions, civil society organizations, victims’ organisations and other key stakeholders;

We seek to attract a diverse group of fellows who want to pursue cutting-edge research on LGBTQI+ peoples, policies, and rights, using innovative methods and new ideas to impact global discourses and practices.
Eligibility and Expectations
We welcome applications from both emerging and established individuals whose research and practice are aligned with the priorities and protocols of the Carr-Ryan Center and Global LGBTQI+ Human Rights Program.
The Global LGBTQI+ Fellows Program is a yearlong affiliation (September 1 through June 30) that culminates in a Global LGBTQI+ Research Symposium in Cambridge, MA, where fellows will present their work to a community of leading academics and movement leaders. In addition to research and writing, fellows may audit classes, meet with faculty and other visiting experts, lead study groups with students, and participate in learning opportunities and public programs at the Kennedy School and across Harvard University. Fellows must commit to the following:
Monthly Participation
- Attend one monthly cohort meeting over Zoom
- Engage in group discussion and peer feedback
Research Development
- Present your work at least three times (initial ideas, early findings, working drafts)
- Share materials in advance and provide feedback to peers
Spring Symposium
- Present your final project at the Global LGBTQI+ Research Symposium to a community of leading academics and movement leaders.

KEY TASKS
Brussels-based advocacy and representation:

4. Work collaboratively with other Civil society coalitions, in particular with the Brussels based SRHR partners and when/where relevant with other gender equality/ global health/ international cooperation networks and represent IPPF EN in relevant meetings
5. Be an active member in CONCORD, actively contribute to specific relevant working groups and meetings (especially the MFF task force and the Gender Equality Working Group), coordinate the input of Countdown 2030 Europe partners/ IPPF EN Member associations to CONCORD through their national platforms.
Project implementation:
1. Implement the Brussels based advocacy tasks and priorities of both “Countdown 2030 Europe” and “Protecting Gender Equality from backlash in EU external policies” projects incumbent upon IPPF EN as one of the partners 2. Overall, ensure coordination between Brussels- based and national partners, including keeping the information flow, responding to their information request; soliciting inputs on their national developments as EU member state; assisting them in nurturing relations with their Member State representatives in Brussels. and lead on consortium wide advocacy actions alerts related to the above key EU processes, especially on the MFF negotiations and the GAP renewal.
3. Actively participate in in both projects planning meetings and specific working groups, contribute to projects reporting and joint activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
· A post graduate qualification (or equivalent through experience) in political/social sciences, development or European Studies
· 3 to 5 years of work experience in European advocacy or advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights or similar development issues.

The Centre for Reproductive Research & Communication (CRRC) at BPAS is seeking a Research and Evaluation Assistant to support the delivery of mixed-methods research and evaluation projects focused on sexual and reproductive health with a core focus on abortion care.
Working closely with the Research and Engagement Lead and Evaluation Researcher, you will contribute to data collection, data management, and analysis; support the production of high-quality research outputs; and help ensure projects are delivered ethically and effectively.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities
