RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resource Mobilization
- The ED proactively raises funds for CARE's country, regional, and global advocacy working closely with the resource development team and VP/USPPA. The global advocacy budget is approximately $3M annually currently, with plans to grow to $5M+.
Strategy, Planning and MEAL
- The ED leads the global advocacy team's annual and quarterly planning cycles, and supports the lead advocates in being focused and strategic in pursuing their goals.
- The ED ensures that country offices and advocacy leads are completing advocacy impact evaluation tools to capture wins, and that regular impact evaluations are being conducting for highly impactful wins.
- The ED also participates in organization- and confederation-wide strategic planning processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Director for Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) will lead in enhancing the impact and visibility of CIFOR-ICRAF’s GESI profile across local, national and global communities working within our impact areas and at the intersections of social equity and food systems, forests, agroforestry, landscapes.
Building on CIFOR-ICRAF’s ongoing GESI portfolio and the organizational strategy, the Director will bring in the latest insights in GESI from both research and development, and lead the organization on GESI mainstreaming and training of staff on GESI topics for communication, impact and visibility. She/he will build networks within the CIFOR-ICRAF scientific community, particularly team building with GESI researchers across gender, intersectionality, indigenous, youth and other relevant topics. This includes serving as a facilitator of institutional processes that support the consideration of gender/ GESI in all projects, establishing systems for data collection across projects, and monitoring and aggregating information to capture and catalyze institutional impact. • A minimum of Master’s degree in a social science discipline or interdisciplinary degree, preferably with an emphasis on gender, equity, social justice and/or development;

Essential Job Functions
- Lead the “Equal Stake in the Soil” project team in Kenya, including overseeing annual workplan development and monitoring and oversight of subgrantee partners.
- Facilitate development of a coalition of civil society actors in Kenya, in collaboration with the Landesa Kenya team, the Stand for Her Land (S4HL) team, and key land sector partners.
- Facilitate collective development of a Coalition strategy; assess progress and results, identify problem areas, and take corrective steps to achieve S4HL and project objectives.
- Rally CSO actors in Kenya to promote and strengthen the leadership, voice, and agency of grassroots women as central to all activities implemented by S4HL Kenya.
- Perform research, analysis, and synthesis of topics and issues related to Landesa’s work in the country and region from a gender equality and intersectional perspective as needed, and collaborate with S4HL team to identify needs for research and analysis, and identify staff, consultants, or partners who can conduct it
- Working with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team, oversee fieldwork (key informant interviews, public meetings, workshops, surveys) to gather information about current land tenure conditions and prospects for gender transformational reform.

- Contribute to plans for implementing recommendations, including advocating for gender transformative approaches to be adequately integrated and resourced.

Purpose of the request for applications
Together for Girls is seeking to partner with a Tanzania-based research institution to 1) conduct/lead qualitative research on the changes in policies and programs over time between Tanzania’s two VACS; and 2) disseminate its results to local, national, regional, and global policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and advocates for them to a) have an understanding of factors (policies, investments, programs, interventions, contextual elements like economic growth and evolving social norms) that contributed to the overall reductions in VAC over time in Tanzania, and b) to drive policy development and implementation, investments, and further research at the national and global levels both by documenting successful policy and programmatic actions in and elucidating remaining policy and program gaps in prevention and response to VAC in Tanzania.

To be eligible for the award under this RFA, applicants are expected to have technical and organizational capacities that include:
Be a Tanzania-based non-governmental organization (NGO), not-for- profit organization, or private voluntary organization, inclusive of universities with demonstrated experience working with and connections to the government of Tanzania.
Solid technical skills and experience in conducting qualitative research on the issue of VAC and violence against women (VAW).
Proven project management experience or experience managing collaborative projects of similar complexity in Tanzania.
Strong and in-depth knowledge of VAC, VAW, and gender in the Tanzania context.
Demonstrated experience in the development of technical reports.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) is an international human rights research and advocacy organization known for its in-depth investigations, its incisive and timely reporting, its innovative and high-profile advocacy campaigns, and its success in changing the human rights-related policies and practices of influential governments and international institutions. We’re comprised of over 600 staff in more than 50 countries.Responsibilities1. Develop strategies, set programmatic priorities, and plan and execute research and advocacy to best defend and advance LGBT rights as human rights globally;
2. Ensure high research standards, including thorough vetting of research and media products, developing innovative research methods, and ensuring that the division’s work meets a high ethical standard;
3. Collaborate with HRW staff in other program areas, including by reviewing products produced across the organization;
4. Provide final editing of reports and other written interventions and take part in research and writing;
5. Oversee the collection of detailed, contextualized information on human rights violations affecting LGBT people around the world, ensure the publication of accurate, comprehensive, insightful, strategic, and timely reports on those policies and practices, and ensure the use of those reports to generate effective and appropriate pressure to curb abuses;
Managerial Responsibilities:
1. Lead, motivate, and mentor a thriving nine-person team, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, providing regular and timely constructive feedback, ensuring balanced workload, and providing guidance on professional growth;
2. Supervise the team’s use of traditional media, multimedia, new technology, and other innovative tools to advance advocacy goals;
3. Monitor staff well-being to help manage stress, and boost resilience;
4. Promote an inclusive and positive work environment including by soliciting diverse points of views, encouraging staff to participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and proactively addressing any bias, or discrimination; and
5. Model inclusive behavior and consistently adhere to HRW’s internal values;
Qualifications
An advanced (graduate) degree or equivalent work experience in law, social science, public policy, or a related field is required.A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience with at least five years in a management role.1. Self-motivated, creative, strategic thinker with senior-level experience working on LGBT human rights issues globally is required.
2. Knowledge of LGBT rights movements worldwide and experience negotiating the political and ethical challenges such work poses is required.
3. Excellent leadership skills and a depth and breadth of management and organizational skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead a team of talented professionals in multiple global locations is required.
4. Fundraising and development experience is highly desirable.
5. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work collegially in a demanding, diverse, and fast-paced professional environment is required.
6. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English are required. Fluency in one or more languages other than English is highly desirable.
