Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
URC is seeking a full-time, remote within Australia (Canberra preferred), Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Specialist for an anticipated contract for establishing a Quality and Technical Assurance Group (QTAG) for the DFAT Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) Program. The GEDSI Specialist will ensure gender equality, disability equity, and social inclusion are integrated across all aspects of CRC performance assessment and learning. They will assess program relevance and effectiveness from a GEDSI perspective and contribute to strategic advice and learning outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review CRC program documents for GEDSI responsiveness and inclusion.
- Provide technical input into annual assessments and learning reports.
- Contribute to deep dives, thematic evaluations, and governance reviews with a GEDSI lens.
- Collaborate with CRC stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities in GEDSI implementation.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in GEDSI-focused development programs, including international or Indo-Pacific contexts.
- At least 3 years of experience in MEL or applied research in development settings.
- Strong understanding of inclusive development principles and DFAT’s gender and disability strategies.
- Proven ability to work remotely with interdisciplinary teams across time zones.
- Demonstrated ability to write professional, policy-oriented content in English.
- Experience working with or advising DFAT-funded programs in GEDSI is preferred.
- Strong understanding of DFAT’s policies including:
- Australia’s International Development Policy
- Performance and Delivery Framework
- Environmental and Social Safeguards Policy
- International Gender Equality Strategy
- Disability Equity and Rights Strategy
- Excellent cross-cultural communication and research skills.
- Commitment to locally led development and equity.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a distributed, virtual team environment.
