Role overview: The internship is designed as a meaningful professional development opportunity, with structured mentorship, a fair workload, and portfolio-building deliverables. You will be supervised and trained by WIGJ’s Communications Officer and Advocacy team and will work closely with the rest of our small, international team.
This role combines strategic communications, event support, and advocacy work in an international justice context. You will gain hands-on experience in creating impactful content, managing multi-partner campaigns, and amplifying feminist and intersectional perspectives in global policy spaces.
The Communications Intern will play an active role in supporting Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice during a high-profile period. From September to December 2025, you will contribute to three major organisational priorities:
• Gender Justice & International Criminal Law Conference (29–30 September, The Hague) – supporting live social media coverage, photography, short videos, and on-site event logistics.
• Website and Brand launch – helping to prepare and publish content, ensure quality control, and roll out WIGJ’s new brand identity.
• Assembly of States Parties to the ICC (December) – assisting with communications, advocacy, and event support for one of the most important annual gatherings in international criminal law.
More specifically, you will be involved in:
Communications & Content Creation
• Create visuals for social media, newsletters, and reports.
• Draft content for newsletters, social media and reports.
• Assist with content creation, including photography and videos.
Event Support
• Help coordinate logistics and on-site support at events.
• Support on-site content creation (quotes, photos, videos).
• Support registration, materials preparation, and technical set-up.
Website & Branding
• Assist with technical preparation for launch of new website.
• Support plans for brand identity launch.
• Create updated templates for content.
Other
• Support the development of a CRM system for outreach.
• Organise and archive photos, videos, and event content.
• Provide occasional administrative support to the team.
You might be a good fit for this role if you have...
• Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram).
• Basic design skills in Canva or similar tools.
• Written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Interest in gender justice, human rights, or international law, and feminist, intersectional, and survivor-informed approaches to communications.
• Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn image or video editing (e.g. Adobe Express, CapCut, or similar), and newsletter tools such as Mailchimp.
We do not expect applicants to have all of these skills. Training and support will be provided.
