Movement buildingContext
UAF A&P is a feminist fund that supports women, trans, and non-binary activists and movements in Asia and the Pacific by co-creating a safe environment for them to sustain their work and thrive. Guided by feminist values, we provide individuals, organisations, and their communities with urgent grants and strategic support to strengthen their safety and well-being. Since our establishment in 2018, we have given over USD 10 million in grants across 34 countries in our region.
Scope of work
This project will centre UAF A&P’s values and work with methodologies that speak to collective care. This means exploring decolonial feminist methodologies and working with grounded theory, and staying accountable to grantee partners. Beginning with desk research to understand what knowledge already exists about collective care, we will build out a qualitative research methodology that speaks to our research questions (please refer to the concept note for further context).
It is critical for this project to find the methodologies that can work towards our tensions and questions. The methodology will centre the knowledge held by UAF A&P’s WSC grantee partners by looking at both existing data and knowledge that UAF A&P holds, such as grantee reports, learning documentation, and staff experiences, as well as conduct additional data collection with grantee partners through creative and participatory methods. Where possible, the research should draw from multiple ways of knowing and engage with multi-lingual modalities, drawing from the diversity of our region as a strength rather than a limitation.
On the basis of our WSC grantmaking, the consultant(s) will work closely with UAF A&P’s staff, advisors, and grantee partners throughout all phases of the project. Rather than being limited to ‘participation’, we hope that the project will engage feminist knowledge systems in its collectivity, engaging in processes such as collective sensemaking, validation, and completing the feedback loop to our partners.
Qualifications
● Familiarity with knowledge production using grounded theory and utilising decolonial feminist methodologies
● Ability to think critically, write clearly, and distill abstract ideas into accessible language and formats
● Understands the risks and security concerns of activists, and is able to uphold confidentiality and data security requirements
● Familiarity with the geographical, linguistic, cultural, historical, religious, ecosocial diversity of our region
● Is willing to expand and challenge their own understandings of the concepts we work with, and challenge us
● Must be inclusive towards trans, intersex, and non-binary defenders
● Experience with activism in our region a plus
● Knowledge of a language/languages other than English a plus*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

- Introduction
About medica mondiale e.V.
medica mondiale is a feminist women’s rights organisation. For over 30 years, we have been campaigning against conflict-related sexualised violence and against power relations that oppress women. Together with local partner organisations in Northern Iraq/Kurdistan, Afghanistan, West Africa, the African Great Lakes Region as well as in South-eastern Europe, we support survivors of sexualised violence, oppose discriminatory power relations, and empower women’s rights activists.
Through programmes and in partnership with local women’s rights organisations, medica mondiale e.V. follows a multi-level approach to address the various factors contributing to violence against women and girls: On the individual level, medica mondiale e.V. provides access to holistic services (psychosocial, health, legal, economic) for survivors of (sexualised) gender-based violence (SGBV). On the level of women’s and girls’ social environment, medica mondiale e.V. supports communities to recognise and protect women’s and girls’ rights and to support survivors of SGBV. On the institutional level, medica mondiale e.V. collaborates with diverse institutions along the referral pathway, whereby a particular focus lies on health institutions, to contextualize and adopt the stress- and trauma-sensitive approach (STA) towards survivors and to establish cross-institutional referral and support systems. On the political level, medica mondiale e.V. advocates for laws, policies and resolutions that address SGBV and promote women’s political participation. On the societal level, medica mondiale e.V. campaigns against sexism and gender stereotypes, raises awareness on (S)GBV and the long-term impacts of trauma within societies. Stress- and trauma-sensitivity are fundamental principles of our work, which is spelled out in media mondiale’s specifically developed stress- and trauma-sensitive approach (STA1). Our international programmes department is divided into four regional teams, which include experts from different medica mondiale departments (finance, international programmes (IP), trauma work, evaluation and quality (E&Q)). The four regional teams are 1) Afghanistan and Kurdish Autonomous Region of Iraq, 2) West Africa, 3) African Great Lakes Region, 4) Southeastern Europe.
Our primary aim is to transform patriarchal norms and structures and bring an end to sexualised wartime violence and other forms of sexualised gender-based violence. At the local, national and international levels we join forces with other feminist activists, women human rights defenders (WHRDs) and feminist women rights organizations to campaign for the rights, protection and participation of women in establishing gender justice and removing power gaps.Click on Apply for more information on the job posting.*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

Sexual & reproductive rights (SRHR) HealthThe International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is the world’s largest civil society organisation advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). With a presence in over 146 countries through our Federation of 120 Member Associations and 38 Collaborative Partners, we deliver healthcare and champion rights where they are needed most. Our work spans comprehensive sexuality education, access to contraception and safe abortion, maternal care and humanitarian response - ensuring that care reaches all, regardless of race, gender, income, or geography. Guided by Strategy 2028, we are reimagining our future to be more locally owned, globally connected and unapologetically bold in advancing SRHR, gender justice and human rights.
We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as our next Director, Solidarity for Change and Voice. This is an opportunity to lead a global movement for SRHR justice - driving bold advocacy, amplifying the voices of those most affected, and standing firm in the face of growing opposition. The Director will spearhead partnerships with social movements, build strategic alliances, and shape the global discourse on SRHR. They will ensure that IPPF remains a fearless and authoritative voice for gender justice, LGBTQI+ rights, and access to safe abortion, while strengthening our Federation’s ability to counter disinformation and resist the rollback of fundamental freedoms.
Reporting to the Global Director of External Relations, the Director will set the conditions for IPPF to stand up and speak out. They will harness political intelligence, leverage storytelling and narratives, and work in deep solidarity with our Member Associations, activists, and allies to drive impact at every level - from grassroots mobilisation to international policymaking. They will also play a critical role in supporting human rights defenders, protecting activists from opposition attacks, and ensuring that IPPF continues to be a trusted and effective advocate for the people and communities we serve.
The ideal candidate will be a bold and strategic leader with deep experience in social justice movements, international advocacy, and global policymaking. They will have a track record of driving change in highly complex and contested spaces, building coalitions that shift power, and leading teams to deliver impact at scale. A skilled communicator and strategist, they will know how to shape narratives, challenge harmful discourse, and influence decision-makers at the highest levels. They will also bring extensive experience working with civil society, donors, governments, and multilateral institutions, along with a keen ability to navigate the political landscape surrounding SRHR. Above all, they will be relentlessly committed to human rights, fearless in the face of opposition, and unwavering in their pursuit of justice and equality for all.*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' role Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)The PhD Project
This PhD project investigates disinformation at the intersections of gender, visual communication, and political discourse. It studies how women politicians’ intersectional identities are targeted in false and misleading content. As generative AI tools are becoming more accessible and often materialize as deepfakes, disinformation campaigns’ visual and multimodal aspects pose new challenges for political representation and democratic discourse. Through an interdisciplinary approach combining political communication and media studies with a focus on gender and visual disinformation, this PhD project will examine the distinguishing features of gendered multimodal disinformation, its perception by audiences, and its impact on women in the political sphere targeted by it.
Methodologically, research in this project employs qualitative methods, incorporating a systematic literature review, multimodal discourse analysis, media diaries, focus groups, and in-depth interviews with women who have been targeted by disinformation campaigns. This comprehensive approach contributes to a better understanding of how disinformation campaigns target women in the political context, potentially discouraging them from pursuing public careers. This is a particular concern given that women are underrepresented in prominent political positions, holding head-of-state positions in only 23% of countries. When they do reach these positions of power, women politicians are often subject to backlash when they do not meet gender-stereotypical expectations.
