Policy Development & Thought Leadership
● Translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling narratives that drive awareness and action.
● Work with colleagues to develop policy briefings, reports, and consultation responses, ensuring African Rainbow Family continues to be a credible and informed voice in the sector.
Internal Collaboration & Leadership
● Work closely with the finance team, grants team, support and advocacy teams to ensure advocacy work aligns with broader charity’s objectives.
● Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on policy and public affairs matters, in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer where required.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Contribute to the organization and participate in the sub-regional awareness-raising event on the CFS Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment in the Context of Food Security and Nutrition that will take place in Tanzania;
• Lead and/or participate in field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties, provision of technical support and supervision, and for data collection purposes and preparation of mission summaries;
• Coordinate and assist the missions and trainings conducted by national and international consultants and FAO staff by processing the administrative procedures and coordination with relevant governmental agencies, UN agencies and national stakeholders;

The Advisor's role will involve supporting the management of cluster programs by developing gender and diversity transformative activities and programs, including those for PwD. - Providing proactive advice to cluster management and programs on enhancing diversity, inclusion, and gender aspects in each project.

The Advisor will support GIZ’s commitment to gender equity and inclusion of PwD, which are seen as prerequisites for sustainable development and a viable future for society. Promoting a gender- and disability-sensitive approach and acting to eliminate gender- and disability-based discrimination, are key targets of GIZ. The Advisor will ensure alignment with EAC and GIZ monitoring frameworks and reporting requirements, guided by the cluster management, the GIZ/EAC cluster coordinator, and the Program Manager for PanPrep. The role requires collaborative work with all team members to achieve these goals.
Qualifications and Competencies- Bachelor's degree strongly related to gender, inclusion of people living with disabilities or related fields

Functional Responsibilities
The Gender Equality Specialist will be responsible for the following functions:
- Oversee, develop and coordinate the implementation of all gender–related work.
- Develop the Gender Action Plan and review it annually, update and revise it as necessary.
- Ensure that project reporting, monitoring and evaluation fully addresses the gender issues of the project.
- Ensure that gender sensitization modules are included in all training activities supported by the project, and support the development of these modules.
- Verify that project training materials and activities are aligned with local family realities, promote positive actions towards the role and involvement of women in family income generating activities and family finances, respect communities’ ethnicity, women's time availability, cultural practices, etc.
- Ensure that guidelines, protocols, procedures, standards and incentives developed by the project include gender dimensions.
- Ensure that women actively participate in, and benefit from, all project-related activities.
- Support the collection of sex-disaggregated and gender specific data by the responsible partner institutions.
- Ensure that the project also supports women groups interested in project-supported livelihoods development activities.
- Conduct a Gender Assessment of project impact as part of the Mid-Term Review (MTR). Based on the results of the Gender Assessment and other recommendations coming out of the MTR, make recommendations on how the project can further improve its gender related interventions
Education/Experience/Language requirements
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent proficiency) in gender studies or any other related field is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in any of the above-mentioned fields or related in combination with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience may be accepted instead of an advanced university degree.
At least 5 years of experience in gender in development projects, with a specific focus on working with women in African rural communities is required.
At least 5 years of experience working in one or more of the Lake Tanganyika riparian countries (Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zambia) is required.
Experience with addressing gender-based violence issues in rural communities is an asset.

Sous la responsabilité hiérarchique de la Directrice générale adjointe,
Le·a responsable de la cellule EAMA est un·e manager en charge de piloter les activités relatives à la gestion des comportements abusifs du périmètre de la cellule EAMA et l’accompagnement apporté à la voie opérationnelle dans la gestion de la réponse aux allégations d’abus. Il·elle est garant·e de la qualité de l’expertise de la réponse aux abus, et veille à l’ajustement des standards de réponse aux contextes des pays d’intervention.
Par sa collaboration avec les Opérations, il·elle contribue au développement de la prévention des comportements abusifs.
Par la capitalisation des enseignements tirés de l’analyse des cas d’abus traités, il·elle contribue avec le département des Opérations à l'amélioration continue des pratiques pour prévenir les situations abusives envers les patient·e·s et le personnel de MSF France.
Il·elle est tenu·e au respect de la confidentialité conformément aux normes éthiques applicables à ses responsabilités et garantit le respect de l’éthique et des principes de confidentialité qui président à la gestion des cas gérés par son équipe.
Profil recherché :
Expérience :- Une expérience de management d’équipe (+5 ans) , est requise

Scope of Work
The Regional Project Lead will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and implementation of the Initiative. Key responsibilities include:

Eligibility and qualifications- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Education, Gender Studies, Public Health, Human Rights, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in curriculum design, development, and delivery, particularly within the fields of LGBTQIA+ rights, HIV, SRHR, human rights, youth empowerment, or leadership development.
- Proven experience designing and implementing accredited learning programs for marginalised or key populations, ideally with a focus on LGBTQIA+ communities in West and Central Africa.

• Take lead in establishing dialogue, sensitizing, lobbying and supporting gender mainstreaming and social inclusion among community organizations and partners at local, sub-national and national level to mobilize their support and participation in the project’s advocacy and influencing agenda.
• Contribute to the development of technical guidance tools and approaches and coordinate the operational roll out of the same.
• Network and maintain dialogue with relevant Government Institutions in the five project counties, National and International Development Organizations to ensure collaboration, synergy and sharing of experiences on GEDSI.
• In collaboration with the communications and impact and influence team, contribute to the production of GEDSI related content i.e. knowledge products, success stories, etc.
• Represent Practical Action in the project area to County governments, local communities, NGOs and other actors when requested to do so.
PERSON PROFILE
• Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies or related degree with focus on gender equality in international development, energy, social work, anthropology or related area, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience (including field experience) providing technical leadership for the design and implementation of development programmes focused on advancing gender equality in agriculture, WASH, energy or any related sectors.
• At least 3 years’ experience of leading the design and implementation of development GEDSI in projects.
• Strong understanding of gender equality principles and practices, the gender equality sector, policy priorities and key gender inequalities impacting women in Kenya.
• Proven senior level experience leading diverse, complex initiatives and virtual teams to achieve agreed objectives, including demonstrated experience designing, implementing and reporting on GEDSI.

1. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) - Main tasks and responsibilities
- Conceptualize initiatives and advise management and HR on strategic approaches and measures to promote and reinforce DEI
- Act as a catalyst for exchange between Management and staff groups on DEI
- Support Country Director and Management Team with their contribution to the implementation of priority measures and medium-term objectives of the GIZ Africa Department fostering diversity and equity
- Ensure periodic knowledge sharing, capacity development and sensitization on DEI issues e.g. unconscious bias, post-colonialism etc. among staff
2. Country Gender Focal Point Zambia - Main tasks and responsibilities
- Advise the Country Director and project managers on the operationalization, implementation and monitoring of the GIZ Gender Strategy
- Contribute to the integration of gender-related aspects and gender-transformative approaches in the development of new and follow-on projects/ programmes (build on the results of the 2025 Zambia Gender Synopsis)
- Advise on gender-related requirements in commission management as stipulated in the GIZ Safeguards + Gender management system
- Coordinate the exchange amongst gender focal points on project level and ensure reporting to and exchange with GIZ headquarter
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Psychology, Law or equivalent
- Preferably a master’s degree in social sciences, Psychology, Law or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- The academic qualifications should be verified by Zambia Qualification Authority (ZQA)
Professional experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience on inclusion, gender, cultural cohesion and diversity management as well as implementation of anti-discrimination policies.
- Fair understanding of employment and labour laws and regulations, anti-discrimination policies, human rights and equity principles
- Experience in implementing organizational change
- Experience in facilitation and moderation of interactive sessions.
Other knowledge and additional competences
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders
- Proven ability to develop and implement DEI initiatives independently
- Fluency in English and other local languages, with very good writing skills
- Excellent IT skills (e.g. MS Office, online research, etc.); ability to learn new tools
- Must be a team player and is expected to work well in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
- Practical experience working in an international organization is an asset
