 Main Duties/Tasks
Advocacy & Campaigning Strategy
● Work with the Chief Executive Officer to develop and deliver a proactive and inclusive advocacy and campaigning strategy to drive meaningful policy change that benefits LGBTIQ+ Refugees and People Seeking Asylum of African Heritage & the Global Majority.
● Identify and respond to policy developments, advising on how African Rainbow Family can influence key decision-makers and stakeholders.
● Lead campaign planning and execution, ensuring activities engage Siblings, supporters, stakeholders, and policymakers effectively.
● Develop and manage partnerships with other charities, organisations, and networks to amplify the impact of the charity’s advocacy work. 
● Work with partners in litigations of policies that adversely affect LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum.

Public Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement
● Build strong relationships with MPs, government departments, local authorities, and policymakers at national and regional levels.
● Represent African Rainbow Family in parliamentary briefings, policy roundtables, and stakeholder meetings.

 Media & Communications
● Collaborate with the Chief Executive and Media Volunteer Team to develop compelling messaging that supports advocacy goals.
● Work with the charity’s Media Volunteer Team to secure media coverage on key issues, providing expert commentary and ensuring LGBTIQ+ refugees and people seeking asylum issues remain a priority in public debate. 

 Policy Development & Thought Leadership
● Translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling narratives that drive awareness and action.
● Work with colleagues to develop policy briefings, reports, and consultation responses, ensuring African Rainbow Family continues to be a credible and informed voice in the sector. 

 Internal Collaboration & Leadership
● Work closely with the finance team, grants team, support and advocacy teams to ensure advocacy work aligns with broader charity’s objectives.
● Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on policy and public affairs matters, in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer where required.
● Support the development of Siblings, staff and volunteers as advocates for the charity’s policy positions.
● Ensure all campaign activities align with African Rainbow Family’s Charity’s values and meet ethical and legal standards.
● Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

 Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
 ● Experience in providing professional advocacy support (minimum 2 years) for example social work, casework (legal or non-legal). 
● Proven experience in advocacy, campaigning, or public affairs, ideally in a charity, or political environment 
● Strong understanding of UK political systems and policymaking processes 
● Experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with politicians, government officials, or partner organisations 
● A track record of developing and delivering impactful advocacy and campaigns that influence decision-makers 
● Strong media relations skills, including experience securing high-profile coverage
