Gender, Youth, and Social Inclusion (GYSI) Lead, Bangladesh
ACDI/VOCA is seeking a GYSI Lead for an upcoming Feed the Future Agricultural Development Activity in Bangladesh funded by USAID. The anticipated program will address the Sylhet region’s food security needs and potential for agriculture-driven development through developing nutrition sensitive value chains and expanding access to high-quality agricultural services.
The GYSI Lead will lead the development and implementation of the program’s overall GYSI strategy and will ensure the integration of women, youth, and other vulnerable populations into all program activities. The program is anticipated to start in 2025 and this position will be based in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the GYSI strategy which will guide the integration of GYSI concepts and approaches into all program activities, including technical implementation, monitoring, operations, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with the Chief of Party, technical teams, and other personnel on GYSI strategy implementation and monitoring
- Lead or assist in the design and implementation of GYSI analyses, impact assessments, and support the integration of GYSI into other learning studies
- Provide technical advice and trainings to program staff, partners, and stakeholders to build their capacity to integrate gender, youth, and other relevant social considerations into designing interventions, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation
- Review and provide input to project work plans, with attention to GYSI dimensions of technical activities and operations and discuss GYSI issues and priorities with project senior management and other technical specialists
- Work with technical teams to incorporate GYSI into collaboration, learning, and adapting (CLA) plans and practices, including developing GYSI indicators and learning questions, incorporating GYSI issues into pause and reflect sessions, and ensuring that the project reports on GYSI outcomes and impacts
- Lead or assist in the preparation of reports and documents for submission to USAID and ACDI/VOCA home office
- Manage a team and provide coaching and mentoring support to junior specialists.
- Write, coordinate, and disseminate lessons learned among team and program stakeholders
- Maintain an up-to-date and thorough understanding of GYSI related to project components
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in sociology, gender, international development, or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in international development, preferably in an agricultural or food systems context, including 5 years of experience in GYSI programming.
- Knowledge of and experience with USAID rules and regulations related to GYSI is required.
- Knowledge of do no harm and relevant USAID frameworks on women’s empowerment, positive youth development and others is preferred.
- Knowledge of the intersection of GYSI with agricultural or food systems and/or climate change strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English is required.

Gender and Youth Assessments and Strategy (35%)

Required Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in a social science discipline such as development studies, international relations, gender studies, or a related field and a minimum of three years' experience implementing gender and social inclusion programming; OR an undergraduate degree in a related field and five years of relevant work experience implementing gender and social inclusion programming.
- An in-depth understanding of gender, age, and other locally significant socio-cultural and inclusion factors in the context of food, nutrition, and economic security (FNES) programming.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the collection, analysis, and utilization of information from a broad range of sources.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:- Advanced degree in one or more of the following disciplines: social sciences, development studies, public policy / administration, international relations, gender studies, sociology or other relevant field.

This is a post within the Programme Funding Team. The team shapes our restricted programme portfolio by securing funding from UK-based institutional donors, trusts and foundations, multilaterals and in some cases private sector donors.
As the Senior Programme Development Specialist, you will lead and coordinate complex multimillion consortia bids, including grant and commercial contract modalities, and multi-country submissions. Working in partnership with CARE country offices, national and international partners, finance colleagues, and technical advisory teams to identify, scope, bid for and secure new funding for programmes. You will deliver a high-quality bidding process, submitting applications to funders such as FCDO, EC, DEC, START Fund, Education Cannot Wait, Jersey Overseas Aid Committee, and Power of Nutrition. You will build learning from existing CARE programmes into bid design and design programmes in line with CARE policies and standards, as well as donor standards. As a senior member of the team, you will share your experience of programme design and UK-based donors with other team members (including through line management opportunities). What are the main job functions of the Advocacy Officer ?
The Advocacy Officer will be actively contributing to ILGA-Europe’s advocacy work aimed at bringing legal, political and social change for LGBTI people across Europe, by working with European institutions to leverage their mechanisms for change, by setting benchmarks for national governments on LGBTI equality, by engaging with governments and civil society at national level to strengthen capacity to translate political commitments into concrete measures, and by acting as a thought-leader on strategic issues for the European LGBTI movement.

Missions

Key Responsibilities

Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)KIT’s Gender Equality Team is comprised of 14 international gender specialists who focus on feminist leadership, equal rights and empowerment. Objective

Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising Strategy and Funder Engagement:The Strategic Grants Manager will manage a portfolio of institutional funders, including foundations, governments, multilateral institutions, and corporate funders, focusing on expanding MADRE’s government and multilateral funding base.
Proposal Development and Reporting:The Strategic Grants Manager will lead the development and submission of grant proposals, concept papers, reports, and other funder communications that align with MADRE’s programmatic goals and mission.
Grant Compliance and Financial Management:The Strategic Grants Manager will ensure compliance with all grant agreements, monitor contractual obligations, and ensure adherence to funder requirements.
Institutional Funder Prospecting and Research:The Strategic Grants Manager will actively research and identify new institutional funding opportunities, particularly from governments and multilateral institutions. The role will support the Institutional Development team in building and maintaining a strong pipeline of potential funders by identifying and qualifying prospects.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:The Strategic Grants Manager will serve as the direct supervisor of the Strategic Grant & Proposal Writer and interns while also supporting the day-to-day activities of the Program and Development Coordinator.
External Representation and Relationship Building:The Strategic Grants Manager will represent MADRE and support MADRE staff to represent MADRE at external funder meetings, events, and conferences to enhance visibility and strengthen relationships with institutional funders.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in development and fundraising, with a proven track record of securing grants from institutional funders, particularly U.S. and international governments and multilateral institutions.
- Supervision: 1-3 years supervisory experience required.
- Grant Writing and Compliance: Strong experience in writing and managing grant proposals and reports, with a thorough understanding of grant compliance and funder requirements.
- Project Management: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate across teams.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with developing and monitoring programmatic budgets, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and financial reporting requirements.
- Research Skills: Demonstrated ability to identify and research potential funders, cultivating new prospects and growing funding opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey MADRE’s mission and impact to institutional funders.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is Knowledge of French or Arabic is a plus but not required.
- Commitment: Strong alignment with MADRE’s mission, vision, and values, with a deep commitment to advancing social justice, human rights, and gender equity globally.
