The Movement Building Officer will be essential to GATE’s Movement Building program, working closely with the Movement Building Lead. This position will support GATE’s strategic goals by coordinating its membership program and assisting in expanding its movement building initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and strength of trans and gender diverse movements globally.
For this position, we are looking for a dedicated community organizer and connector with a strong record in the field of trans and gender diverse organizing and networking, collaborative programs creation, and non-profit development, as well as a strong grounding in the needs and perspectives of trans and gender diverse communities globally. A commitment to intersectionality and cross-regional cultural sensitivity is also critical for this role.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
Membership Program Coordination
- Manage GATE’s membership work, from member recruitment and management to retention, ensuring the meaningful engagement of trans and gender diverse organizations and activists worldwide.
- Develop and implement systems, tools, communication strategies, and a support framework to facilitate network and resource-sharing among GATE’s members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members, supporting their engagement with GATE’s programs and connecting them to relevant opportunities within the organization and beyond.
Movement Building Program Support and Capacity Building Development
- Collaborate with the Movement Building Lead in planning, implementing, and monitoring annual movement building activities that align with GATE’s strategic priorities.
- Assist in data collection and reporting on trans and gender diverse movement growth and challenges to inform GATE’s advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
- Identify and address gaps in movement building resources by offering mentorship support and creating tailored training materials and resources as needed.
- Enrich GATE’s Learning Hub, which will include broadening the scope of training topics and enhancing user engagement.
Administrative and Additional Support
- Utilize GATE’s internal systems (e.g., project management, budget tracking, Monitoring and Evaluation tools) to manage daily responsibilities and support program coordination efficiently.
Additional tasks as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience (paid or unpaid) in coordinating programs, campaigns, or membership activities within a non-profit setting.
- Sound training and mentoring skills with a respectful and ethical approach.
- Strong project management skills, including experience with planning and Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Demonstrated commitment to the rights and well-being of trans and gender diverse communities.
- Strong listening, interpersonal, and communication skills, emphasizing cultural competence and sensitivity.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with digital project management or M&E tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with advocacy frameworks, including human rights-based approaches.
- Fluency in additional languages is an advantage.

Who we are looking for
We are seeking applications from teams or individuals to carry out a review and provide recommendations for our grantmaking and partnership approach. We are keen to hear from those with a deep knowledge of the feminist funding ecosystem, flexible grantmaking, feminist partnership and feminist movements, especially in Eastern and Southern Africa and South Asia.Scope of Work
We are seeking to review both our partnership and grantmaking to better align them with each other and with our organisational size, strategy and aspirations, including around anti-racism and decolonisation.
The selected individual/organisation will be responsible for a comprehensive review of and concrete recommendations on Womankind’s partnership and grantmaking approaches, including:
- The context and external landscape for Womankind’s partnership and grantmaking, including identification of existing gaps in funding and support for feminist movements that an organisation such as ours could lean into
- Identification of Womankind’s value add and niche, including how we can best harness our approach and position to increase our impact, effectiveness and efficiency in support of feminist organisations and movements
- Review Womankind’s grantmaking against best practice among other flexible and feminist funders, including:
- the effectiveness and alignment of Womankind’s current funding streams
- practices we should continue, adapt and/or adopt
- Womankind’s approach to partnership, including:
- with whom and how we partner, including the number and type of partnerships we currently have
- the types of support we provide or could offer
- how we start and responsibly end partnerships
- The potential for either broader or more narrow scope to our grantmaking and partnership
Our current income, targets and funding prospects, as outlined in our recent financing strategy review, should be considered throughout.
Deliverables
- An inception plan for the work to be carried out at the start of the project. This should include an outline of the approach the review will take, how it will incorporate consultation with Womankind staff, partners, grantees and other key stakeholders within the space, a clear timeline, and a detailed list of information required from the Womankind staff team to inform analysis
- An updated review of the external context for feminist funders and movements and identification of specific niches/gaps that Womankind is well placed to fill
- Recommendations to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and impact of Womankind’s grantmaking
- Recommendations to improve the effectiveness and impact of Womankind’s partnership approach
- Recommendations to improve the alignment between Womankind’s strategies and workstreams and our grantmaking and partnership approaches

TGEU seeks a dynamic and motivated Communications Coordinator to join our Communications team. This entry-level role is designed for an aspiring professional who is passionate about communications for trans rights, multimedia content, and community engagement. Key responsibilities

Policy dialogue, communication and advocacy:

Liaising with ARC’s communications staff, contributions to the ARC website, assisting on social media, co-facilitating relevant events on advocacy for a gender sensitive policy environment in disaster risk financing.
Resource mobilisation:

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following disciplines: gender studies, social sciences, international development, agriculture, development economics, or other relevant field. Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Eligibility
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
(c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
(d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Education:Current student in a higher education program, or recently graduated, in the field of social sciences, gender studies, international relations, economics, conflict studies, or humanitarian action.
Experience:- Existing expertise/ knowledge on Gender or Stabilization
- Knowledge of the context in West Africa.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in reviewing, proofreading, and editing proposals/decks

Volunteers begin with an application and induction call to ensure alignment, followed by an invitation. Generally, we ask a commitment of 6–16 hours per month, depending goals. We work in 3-month cycles to set priorities, assign project leads, and support volunteers. Communication is mainly asynchronous, supplemented by collaboration calls, workshops, and planning sessions. Volunteers can take breaks as needed, with the option to rejoin or stay connected as part of the community!
