GBV / VAWG Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI) Health LGBTQI+ rights/ SOGIESC Sexual & reproductive rights (SRHR)Background
Across Africa, women and girls navigate intersecting systems of oppression, including patriarchy, colonialism, religious fundamentalism, and capitalism that produce multi-dimensional violence including physical, sexual, psychological, economic, and technology-facilitated harm. Feminist movements and women's rights organizations (WROs) have responded by building critical support infrastructure such as safe houses, legal aid, psychosocial services, and crisis hotlines. As these response infrastructures rise up to the tasks, rates of gender-based violence continue surging, and significantly in the years during and following the COVID-19 pandemic, placing additional strain on these already overstretched infrastructures.
LBQTI-GNC persons experience disproportionately high rates of SGBV; however, the representation & inclusion of LBQTI-GNC persons and their experiences within these feminist and WRO response infrastructure remains profoundly under-documented. In the places where these SGBV response infrastructures exist, they are largely designed around a heterosexual, cisgender subject, and for lesbian, bisexual, queer, transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming (LBQTI-GNC) women and people, this infrastructure frequently fails to account for the specific and compounding risks they face, including state criminalization, family rejection, corrective violence, and exclusion from the very services intended to support them.
Purpose of the Evaluation
The purpose of this consultancy is to retain a qualified Lead research consultant (or research team) to design, execute, and deliver a rigorous, multi-country, mixed-methods study analyzing the structural dynamics influencing how African LBQTIGNC women and feminists are recognized and served within existing feminist and WRO responses to TF/SGBV in Africa
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for executing the study across nine (9) African countries spanning three distinct regions: Eastern, Southern, Northern (2 countries each), and West Africa (3 countries). Country selection will be finalized during inception based on civic space, legal frameworks, and security contexts
Required Qualifications
CHEVS is seeking an experienced individual researcher or a multi-regional consortium of feminist researchers matching the following criteria:
● Subject Matter Expertise: Minimum of 7+ years of demonstrable experience conducting human rights research, policy analysis, or social assessments in Africa, with a distinct focus on SGBV, feminist resource architecture, or intersectional rights
● Methodological Excellence: Exceptional qualitative and analytical skills, with a track record of handling sensitive funding flow analyses or ecosystem mappings
● Community Grounding: Strong, established relationships with African LBQTIGNC and feminist movements and deep familiarity with the structural political economy of African civil society.
● Communication: Exceptional storytelling, report-writing, and brief-drafting capabilities tailored to both high-level donors and grassroots organizers*When clicking on “Apply”, you will be redirected to the original job announcement and details

GBV / VAWGWomen Too Africa Foundation (WTA) is seeking a Feminist Legal Consultant to support the implementation of our Breaking Impunity Project.
We are looking for a feminist legal practitioner who understands that behind every enforcement gap, every dismissed case, and every unprosecuted femicide is a woman whose life and dignity deserved better from the institutions designed to protect her.
The consultant will lead two foundational streams of work to develop our Shadow Evidence Brief.
The first is a comprehensive desk review and legal analysis of VAPP Act enforcement records across Oyo, Osun, and Ogun States, examining court records, prosecution data, state ministry documentation, and civil society reporting to map exactly where the law is failing, how it is failing, and who is allowing it to fail.
The second is the documentation and legal validation of community-level testimonies gathered directly from survivors and frontline women defenders across purposively selected communities in our three target states. These testimonies are not supplementary material. They are the human evidence that transforms a legal brief from a policy document into an accountability instrument, placing the patterns, and institutional failures behind the statistics before the Oyo State House of Assembly and the judiciary.
The consultant will work with WTA's Program team to ensure every testimony is legally framed, carefully anonymised, and ethically handled in full accordance with our survivor protection protocol.
If you have a legal qualification, a demonstrated feminist analytical lens, solid knowledge of the VAPP Act and its enforcement landscape in Southwest Nigeria, and experience producing evidence-based legal briefs or legislative submissions for civil society bodies, we want to hear from you.

Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI) Peace and Security Social normsBackground:UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The Arab States region remains one of the most conflict-affected regions in the world, with multiple protracted and emerging crises, including in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq, generating profound humanitarian, political, economic, and developmental consequences. These crises unfold in contexts where the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda remains critically under-implemented, and where the gap between WPS commitments and action continues to widen. Women and girls bear a disproportionate burden of conflict, facing heightened risks of gender-based violence, displacement, loss of livelihoods, and systematic exclusion from peace negotiations, political transitions, and recovery processes. Yet women in the region have not been only victims of conflict, they have been active peacebuilders, community leaders, and agents of resilience and recovery.
UN Women's Regional Office for the Arab States recognizes the urgent need for a rigorous, evidence-based, and gender-responsive conflict analysis that captures the differentiated experiences of women and men across the region's diverse conflict contexts, examines the structural drivers that sustain both conflict and gender inequality, and identifies concrete entry points for advancing the WPS agenda at national and regional levels. Such an analysis will strengthen UN Women's advocacy and policy engagement with Member States, UN system partners, regional bodies, and civil society, and contribute to more gender-responsive conflict prevention, peacebuilding, protection, and humanitarian response across the Arab States region.
The consultancy will be managed by the UN Women Regional Office for the Arab States, under the direct supervision of the Regional WPS-HA Advisor. The consultant will maintain regular communication with the WPS team throughout the assignment, providing progress updates and flagging any methodological or contextual challenges in a timely manner. All key deliverables will be subject to review and approval by UN Women task manager prior to finalization.
