The Role
Reporting to the Advisory Committee, Girls First Fund seeks their next Director to steward the organization, its strategy, its partnerships, and its role championing community-led efforts so that all girls can live free from child marriage and create their own future. The Director will be responsible for leading GFF’s work increasing the financial resources channeled to community-based organizations to prevent and respond to child marriage, and amplifying the voices of these vital organizations. The Director will lead and collaborate with a team of 20, many of whom have been with the organization since it’s founding. The Director is ultimately responsible for the strategic, grantmaking, and financial operations of the organization.
Candidate Profile
GFF is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and inspirational leader with a passion for advancing community-based, girlcentered, and gender-transformative work. The Director will bring deep experience, networks, and relationships across philanthropic and advocacy spheres—and enthusiasm for mobilizing the resources and donor community needed to sustain and grow this work. The Director will ideally bring the following set of skills and experiences to the position:
Fundraising and donor relations: Experience cultivating institutional and individual donors will be critical for the next Director, as they sustain and expand GFF’s funding base. The next Director will bring an existing network of funder relationships and the ability to build new partnerships for the organization.
Grassroots CBO connection: The next Director will bring deep experience with grassroots community-based organizations in the Global South and an understanding of the challenges they face. They will bring an authentic connection to GFF’s partners and grantees, drawing from their experience.
External engagement: The Director will be skilled in external representation, drawing from their experience representing organizations globally across a variety of spaces and audiences including philanthropy, feminist movements, the movement to end child and early forced marriage, community-based organizations and more.

- Design and implement a tailored GBV CM rollout plan that reflects the operational context and team capacity.
- Lead the development and delivery of capacity-building initiatives for IOM team and its partners on GBV prevention, mitigation, response, and case management practices. This includes facilitating training sessions for caseworkers and focal points on GBV CM principles, survivor-centered approaches, ethical documentation, and referral procedures.
- Take part in the recruitment of GBV case workers and team members as part of the roll out plan.
- Develop and adapt GBV CM tools and SOPs, including intake forms, consent forms, and case tracking systems, ensuring alignment with global standards, guidance from in-country GBV AoR, and contextual relevance. This may require contextualization to respond to migration crisis and responding to migrant survivors of GBV.
- Supervise the implementation of activities related to the GBV portfolio, monitoring daily key programmatic areas, including but not limited to GBV case management, management of women and girls' safe spaces, and emergency safe shelter, in line with GBV interagency minimum standards and best practice guidelines for the sector.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of GBViC activities focused on prevention, response, and risk mitigation in crisis settings.
- Collaborate with civil society organizations, women’s groups, and community structures to develop localized protection processes and advocate for inclusive GBV services.
- Promote the integration of protection and GBV interventions into IOM and humanitarian planning documents and contribute technical inputs to donor reporting and project development.
- Provide ongoing technical support and mentorship to caseworkers and protection focal points to ensure quality and ethical case management.
- Develop and disseminate guidance notes, training materials, and documentation of best practices to support continuous learning and institutional memory.
- Ensure ethical management and confidentiality of GBV-related data through training, supervision, and adherence to data protection protocols.
- Conduct protection needs assessments and safety audits and share findings and recommendations with relevant IOM units and partners to inform programming.

How can you make a difference?

Gender-based violence (GBV) PSEA/ SafeguardingSUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
The Southeast Asia Gender Based Violence Prevention Platform ("the Platform") is a regionally led, Australian-funded initiative that aims to address the need and demand for increased investment in, and coordination of, gender-based violence (GBV) primary prevention initiatives in the Southeast Asia region. The Platform aims to strengthen locally-led efforts to prevent GBV through evidence-based advocacy, dialogue, policy and programming in Southeast Asia. The Platform is led by a regionally based Secretariat, in collaboration with Cowater International, Social Development Direct and the Equality Institute, which support organisational development and provide technical support.
Objectives
The objective of the Panel is threefold:
a) To expand the Secretariat’s technical capacity in providing targeted support and expertise to grantees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality grant programmes within the allocated time and budget.
b) To strengthen technical capacity of qualified grantees, to ensure high quality, ethical and safe delivery of their proposed projects.
c) To support grant management, including due diligence and financial management.
Scope of Services The service provider are expected to provide services in one or more of the following areas:
A. Practice-based knowledge/ research: research/ study design, implementation and dissemination.
B. Advocacy: strategy development, design of advocacy tools and approaches, and advocacy implementation.
C. Prevention intervention support: formative research, design, implementation and monitoring of projects related to GBV primary prevention.
D. Gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI): GEDSI analysis, mainstreaming GEDSI into programming and prevention interventions, with particular focus on disability and LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
E. Safeguarding: including preventing SEAH, do no harm and other ethical safeguards. F. Grant management, including due diligence and fiduciary assessment, grant financial management, and supporting grantees on ethics within their projects.
General Selection Criteria
• Minimum 8 years of technical advisory/ assistance experience of similar nature, related to the specialisation or the area of expertise. • Experience working with CSOs, WROs, or academicians/ researchers.
• Understanding of ethical and safeguarding considerations for GBV research and prevention programming, including requirements for grants, implementation evaluations. Familiarity with DFAT requirements preferred.
• Experience in mainstreaming GEDSI in GBV prevention programming and/or research

Objectives
The objectives for the mid-term review are:
1. Understand the current level of awareness and ownership of the Gender Strategy across the organisation;
2. Determine progress made to date against objectives outlined in the Gender Strategy, including challenges and patterns of success; Unit
3. Assess the extent to which we are adhering to the guiding principles in how we deliver the Gender Strategy.
4. Suggest priorities and actions for the remainder of the Gender Strategy implementation period. Scope of the work
The consultant will:
● Design a methodology for the mid-term review of the Gender Strategy, using the questions below as guidance;
● Carry out a review of secondary data provided, and collect primary data against review questions;
● Produce a detailed report against review questions, capturing key findings, successes, challenges and a summary of recommendations.
Deliverables and reporting line
● Draft methodology, including objectives, final review questions, primary and secondary data collection methods and limitations, and review of secondary materials by end-December 2025
● A detailed report in English (12-15 pages) outlining key findings against review questions, and actionable recommended next steps early February 2026
● A concise summary (2 pages) capturing top-level findings and recommendations by mid-February 2026 The consultant will report to CR’s Head of Gender and Peacebuilding on approach and deliverables, as well as, contractual arrangements and invoices.
Required skills and expertise
● Fluency in English (French language skills are a plus)
● Expertise in carrying out mid-term reviews / performance assessments
● Strong understanding of gender equality and social inclusion in peacebuilding
● Experience of peacebuilding practice
● Understanding of how NGOs work and their operational realities
● Ability to process and manage complex data and technical discussions
● Ability to engage with teams working in diverse conflict and cultural contexts and manage potentially sensitive conversations
● Ability to write succinctly and identify clear, actionable recommendations.
● Well organised, punctual and able to meet deadlines and communicate efficiently
● Commitment and ability to abide by CR’s policies
● Experience in conflict-sensitive and trauma-informed research

Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)CONTEXT
The African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), a specialized technical office of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (DARBE) of the African Union Commission (AUC), is mandated to support and coordinate the utilization of livestock, fisheries, aquaculture and wildlife as resources for both human wellbeing and economic development in the Member States of the African Union. The Vision of the AU-IBAR Strategic Plan 2024-2028 is an Africa in which animal resources contribute significantly to integration, prosperity and peace. AU-IBAR’s intervention in the fisheries and aquaculture sector is guided by the Policy Framework and Reform Strategy for fisheries and aquaculture in Africa (PFRS) which is aimed at improving governance of the sector for increased sustainable contribution to food security, livelihoods and wealth creation. Also within the framework of the African Union 2063, the Africa Blue Economy Strategy envisioned an inclusive and sustainable blue economy that significantly contributes to Africa’s transformation and growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Project Team Leader at AU-IBAR, the incumbent will undertake the following targeted areas of work so as to achieve the objectives of the Project ‘Conserving Aquatic Biodiversity in African Blue Economy’:
1. Contribute to the identification and mainstreaming of gender related issues across the project’s activities relevant to aquatic biodiversity and environmental management.
2. Participate in analysis of, from a gender perspective, existing national, regional and local policies, strategies and action plans and elaborate on the added value of gender mainstreaming into national and regional conservation policies.
3. Support the operationalization of the AU endorsed continental strategy for gender mainstreaming in aquatic biodiversity conservation and environmental management in the continent.
4. Contribute to the implementation of the Continental strategy on Nature-based solutions for sustainable aquatic biodiversity conservation, and environment management - ensuring effective community, private sector, women and youth, participation in climate change mitigation efforts, conserving and restoring aquatic ecosystems and fish stocks.
5. Strengthen inclusive Regional Blue Value Chains in selected fisheries and aquaculture undertaken: including actors, enablers, drivers and develop mechanisms for enhancing effective private sector, women and youth engagement.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
i. A minimum of 5 years of combined relevant work experience in development-oriented institutions, NGOs, UN, AU member states or related international development aid projects in Africa.
ii. A Minimum of 3 years of experience in at least one of the sectors (e.g., gender and climate change mitigation programmes; conservation of aquatic ecosystems, integrating gender considerations and women’s empowerment in environmental programming).
iii. Proven experience of working with and mobilizing communities in riparian and coastal settlements.
iv. Experience working with and/or familiarization of regional economic communities and specialized regional institutions and their roles in enhancing gender integration in regional development agendas, including environmental considerations.
