KEY PRIORITIES
1) Work with the Influencing Director and Steering Committee to develop and deliver the gender equality advocacy strategy
The Coordinator will be involved in the design and delivery of the gender equality advocacy strategy, aimed at driving progress on investment and policy when it comes to gender equality and feminist foreign policy. This will include:
  • Designing a theory of change for the duration of the programme.
  • Developing a campaign strategy and tactics with young people, including online and offline actions and training.
  • Joining advocacy meetings with policy-makers and sector colleagues where relevant.
2) Support the Campaign Steering Committee
Our gender advocacy work will be overseen by a Steering Committee of young people both in the UK and globally. The Coordinator will work directly with the Steering Committee, supporting them to fulfil their role, including:
  • Organising regular planning and connection meetings, sharing notes and driving actions forward.
  • Ensuring that the Steering Committee is connected into the work of our European partners, in order to build their understanding of the wider context for our work.
  • Support the Steering Committee members to build their advocacy and campaigning skills and connect them into the global Youth Collective.
3) Engage and grow a network of young feminists in the UK to take action
A significant responsibility for this role will be growing the network of young feminists in the UK who want to take action on global gender equality issues. This will likely include:
  • Working with colleagues to organise and deliver training and events, both online and offline.
  • Taking the lead on advocacy and campaigning activities, while ensuring all policies and systems are followed.
  • Taking the lead on an annual conference, bringing together young feminist campaigners to share, learn and strategise together.

4) Build strong working relationships with sector colleagues
Gender equality issues cannot be resolved by Restless Development alone. As an organisation which thrives when working with partners, we will expect the Youth Power Coordinator to work with others in the sector. This might include:
  • Representing Restless Development at sector-wide meetings and planning sessions.
  • Joining consortium-wide planning calls and meetings.
  • Sharing our learning and networking with colleagues from across the sector, while also sharing lessons learned from external partners with colleagues within Restless Development.
