Climate & Environmental justice Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
ICF is seeking a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Specialist to join its International Green Transition consulting team, which works on a range of international consulting programmes with a focus on achieving new zero emissions in a socially equitable manner. Our principal client is the UK FCDO, with substantial work undertaken for other donors and development banks with Gender Equality and Social Inclusion as a fundamental principle underpinning their green transition initiatives.

We are seeking an individual, preferably from a business background, with the following attributes:
  • Proven knowledge of how to develop holistic, gender sensitive/transformative and inclusive programmes/projects, especially in technical areas related to climate change/green recovery and decarbonisation/energy as well as urban planning.
  • Knowledge of key concepts of gender equality and inclusion, including a proven capacity to integrate them into project strategies, proposals, reports, resources, and external communications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; can support the project cycle using appropriate tools and approaches.
  • Contributes to the successful execution of bids and projects.
  • Experience working on technical assistance projects, supporting integration of GESI into policy development and implementation, and in accountable and participatory Governance. Specific experience developing GESI Assessments and Action Plans, as well as supporting local governments on GESI-Responsive Climate Change or Local Economic Development Strategies particularly relevant.
  • Capacity to organise consultations and support participatory engagement, as well as manage stakeholders’ networks and communities of practice.
  • capacity building support for GESI integration in programming, design, and organizational processes.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders with a varied understanding of GESI throughout the project cycle, including developing guidance and training materials, needs assessments, program design, start-up, implementation, phase-out, communications, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and ad-hoc needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to develop, design, and implement projects.
  • Contribute to the production and creation of project deliverables that meet client expectations and project outcomes.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, sub-contractors, partners, and associates on ongoing projects.

Qualifications And Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years’ recent, relevant experience working on GESI mainstreaming in international development projects, supported by multilateral, bilateral, foundations; experience integrating GESI into private sector also interesting.
  • Experience working in the fields of climate change, energy, urban development, green transition.
  • Experience in a profit-making environment preferred.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in the Social Sciences (e.g., gender, human rights, international development or other relevant subjects)
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. The ability to work in other languages is desirable.
