RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: WEE and Care industry Project Lead
● Exercise overall responsibility for leading the WEE / care project;
● Ensure effective application of results based management (RBM) tools and monitoring
achievement of results;
● As the technical lead you will assist the program manager to manage the portfolio of
activities and relationships;
Responsible for the timely preparation and quality control of all substantive technical
reports, briefs and required documents.
● Map, foster and manage partnerships with government institutions, private sector, and
civil society in relation to women’s economic empowerment and unpaid care.
● Proactively contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
Provision of top-quality advisory, policy and research services
● Thorough/systematic analysis and research of the political, social and economic situation
that affects women’s economic empowerment and unpaid care.
● Provision of programme advisory support to policymakers on women’s economic
empowerment and support a help desk with timely reports, think pieces and briefs;
● Constant monitoring and analysis of changes to the care economy and women's economic
empowerment policy environment - identify areas of support and action/advocacy;
● Foster policy innovation through evidence-based advocacy, delivering
presentations/training and communicate with influencing authority;
● Train enumerators, analysts and coders and supports and builds the capacity of other
researchers by providing constructive feedback and delivering internal training and
workshops.
● Leverages experience and professional network to identify new commercial opportunities.
● Wins additional work with new and existing clients by drafting proposals, concept notes
and budgets.
● Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
● A PhD or Masters in anthropology, economics, education, environmental studies, gender &
sexuality, political science, global health, sociology..
● At least 7 - 10 years of research experience in conducting research and leading research
teams in international development context including at least 1 yr of experience of team
handling and should have been an assistant team leader (ATL) on at least 2 projects.
● At least 3 publications in peer reviewed journals.
● Strong organisational, critical thinking skills
● Strong presentation, research, and verbal and written communication.
● Fluency in English. Fluency in other languages will also be considered favourably.
