INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE
The Social Media and Content Officer plays a key role in shaping Girls Not Brides’ digital presence through social media, creative content, and audience engagement. The role is responsible for developing and delivering social media approaches, creating engaging visual and multimedia content and translating organisational priorities, stories, and evidence into accessible, audience-focused communications.

The role will act as a key source of creative and visual insight, developing high-quality content including graphics, video, photography and digital assets, while supporting the consistent application of the Girls Not Brides brand across communications materials, influencing moments, projects and initiatives. The postholder will help bring organisational priorities, stories, and evidence to life through creative and accessible communications, ensuring content is tailored for different digital audiences and channels.

You are a creative and audience-focused communicator with a passion for visual storytelling, social media, and digital engagement. You enjoy experimenting with different formats, identifying creative ways to communicate ideas, and producing content that connects with audiences.

You are organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple content requests while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency. You understand the importance of accessible, inclusive and ethical communications and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to bring stories to life across multimedia and social media channels.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential 

  • Experience in digital communications, social media communications, or related fields in the not-for-profit sector, an international /intergovernmental organisation, a social movement, or social enterprise. 
  • Demonstrable experience developing and delivering social media content and approaches across multiple platforms, with an understanding of how content should be adapted for different audiences and channels.
  • Experience creating engaging content, including graphics, video, photography, multimedia assets and written content. 
  • Experience using audience insight, analytics and performance data to inform content planning and improve engagement. 
  • Experience applying brand guidelines and visual communication principles across a range of communications materials and platforms.
  • Strong social media planning skills across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, and experience using social media scheduling and monitoring tools.
  • Strong graphic design and visual storytelling skills.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, CapCut, or similar design and video editing tools.
  • Strong understanding of branding, accessibility, audience engagement and platform-specific content requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple creative projects and deadlines.
