Key Job responsibilities
- Design and implement the OSRA project’s Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) strategy and activities aligned with the organization's values and goals.
- Participate in and contribute to activities on issues related to gender equality, GBV, gender empowerment, social inclusion, and inclusive development
- Promote inclusive development and prevent and address gender-based violence.
- Provide ongoing technical support to the GBV team for the development, implementation, and evaluation of activities.
- Lead the gender team by setting clear objectives, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Coordinate with project staff, including managers and technical specialists, to ensure the implementation of the project activities. Support with project reporting, ensuring that updates and progress and related indicators and successes are included in project reports and annual work plans.
- Ensure that USAID’s Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy, ADS 205, and other relevant gender principles, policies and regulations are applied consistently throughout the project and represent gender equality and inclusion of the project to external stakeholders, such as the donor, governments, and partners; disseminate learnings and best practices; and participate in technical working groups.
- Collaborate with legal and HR teams to review and update policies related to gender equality, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Supports capacity of partner organizations to strengthen ability to implement gender focused community-based demand generation and norms-shifting activities
- Builds capacity of project staff, using proven training approaches, mentorship, and quality improvement strategies to improve service delivery and quality.
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with Government, Stakeholders and Community stakeholders at the local level.
- Contributes to development and submission of program implementation periodic reports, ensuring that all donor reports are produced on time and are of a consistently high quality.
- Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and enhance understanding of gender-related issues, biases, and inclusivity among employees at all levels.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education and Work Experience:
- At least 10 years of technical expertise in gender, GBV with deep understanding of principles, best practices, approaches, and methodology related to gender and GBV.
- Demonstrated experience collecting and analysing gender data.
- Ability to collaborate with and work across multiple teams.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills in English and Arabic. Advisor should be able to communicate at the local level.
- Experience working in Egypt and/or the broader MENA region.
- Experience interacting with in-country agencies, including central and local government, development partners, civil society, and community-based organizations.
- Experience working with USAID projects or other international donors’ projects.
Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating capacity strengthening workshops and mentoring.
