About the AIM Program
The Mastercard Foundation Accelerating Impact for Young Women (AIM) in Partnership with BRAC is equipping 2 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) with age-appropriate entrepreneurship, employability, and life-skills training, as well as the tools to start and scale their own businesses. The nine-year program (2021-2030) applies BRAC’s proven model using microfinance, youth empowerment, agriculture, education and skills development to improve lives and livelihoods. It currently operates in seven African countries: Sierra Leone, Liberia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, and Kenya. Based on the AGYW age, needs, and circumstances, AGYW are placed on one of two pathways in the AIM program: an education pathway or a livelihood pathway.

Job summary
The GESI and Advocacy Coordinator will lead the implementation of advocacy, policy, social empowerment, and community engagement activities, with a strong focus on gender and social inclusion, disability inclusion, SRHR, SGBV, and community engagement which includes mobilization, dialogues, and evidence-based advocacy. The role will strengthen staff capacity through targeted training, technical assistance, and quality control in advocacy, SGBV, and SRHR case management and referral systems. Working directly with AIM programme participants and country-level teams, the coordinator will advance the programme’s advocacy agenda, build the capacity of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to advocate for their rights, and support them in identifying and leveraging key advocacy spaces. This work aims to sustain the programme’s long-term impact and foster continued self-advocacy among programme alumni in their communities.
Experience (required):
Experience (required):
- 4 - 6 years’ experience in leading any of the following engagements - advocacy portfolios, GESI portfolios, community mobilization, campaign management, stakeholder management, and/or supporting self-governance transition of youth groups, preferably in social and economic development.
- A robust understanding of the policy landscape around AGYW’s social and economic development, preferably in the African context.
- Prior experience in program-related knowledge management processes.
- Prior experience working with women's and persons with disability groups in advocacy and GESI.
- Experience in strategic relationship and partnership management.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: (required)
- Prior experience in local-level advocacy, including experience with community mobilization and GESI
- Ability to set up groups, with community support, for self-governance
- Knowledge of training content and methodologies for youth on advocacy and/or rights and GESI
- Knowledge of the systemic barriers to girls' and women's social and economic development, particularly in the African context.
- Good understanding of knowledge management systems
- Excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to foster productive working relationships with strategic partners and diverse stakeholders, and good facilitation skills
- Computer-literate and Proficient in MS Office packages
- Ability to coach and motivate colleagues with key advocacy messaging and skills.
