How can you make a difference?

This assignment aims to generate evidence and practical recommendations on how inclusive social protection systems can strengthen climate resilience for women and girls, including those with disabilities, in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Specifically, the consultant will:

Review existing evidence on the climate vulnerabilities faced by women and girls and the role of social protection in addressing those vulnerabilities.

Conduct stakeholder consultations and analyze academic literature, reports, and other relevant sources.

Identify and synthesize global and regional good practices, with a focus on Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Examine how social protection can better support resilience to climate-related shocks and crises through gender-responsive and disability-inclusive approaches.

Develop evidence-based recommendations to help strengthen gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and climate-resilient social protection systems.

In summary, the assignment seeks to fill an important evidence gap at the intersection of climate change, gender equality, disability inclusion, and social protection, and to provide UNICEF and partners with actionable guidance for improving social protection systems to better protect and empower vulnerable women and girls in the face of growing climate risks.
