Responsibilities
Strategic

  • Leads design and improvement of Malala Fund MEL systems in order to deliver the most strategic opportunities for MEL in support of organizational impact, growth and credibility
  • Guides MEL team to set up MEL frameworks and systems for the timely collection, management, analysis, and reporting of relevant and reliable data
  • Shapes Malala Fund strategic planning and learning with relevant and accessible MEL products
  • Purposefully plans and calibrates the scope of country, workstream and organization MEL systems such that they meet stakeholder information needs and prioritize the most essential information
  • Builds innovative, outcome focused MEL centered on girls in order to capture Malala Fund’s non-traditional value-add to girls’ education

  • Technical
  • Consults regularly with senior staff to understand and refine information needs and creates with the MEL team efficient MEL systems to meet these needs
  • Designs and works with MEL team to deliver compelling and persuasive quarterly and annual MEL products to communicate Malala Fund’s theory of change and surface key impacts for external stakeholders
  • Aligns all Malala Fund MEL to support overall impact tracking at organizational levell
  • Uses MEL to advise on and strengthen strategy development processes at organizational, country, and/or workstream levels

Leadership and Representation
  • Working with Chief, Accountability and Impact, provides leadership in developing and delivering Malala Fund’s Accountability and Impact work, in line with the organisation’s five-year strategy
  • Cultivates and manages high-level relationships with global and technical stakeholders able to contribute resources, expertise and/or political capital to Malala Fund’s MEL work
  • Plays a thought leadership role within and outside the organisation on evidence-based interventions that increase girls’ access to 12 years of free, safe, quality education
  • Represent Accountability and Impact department in strategic collaborations with other departments

People Management
  • Leads the MEL team to deliver the MEL portfolio
  • Develops and manages all aspects of the MEL budget
  • Manages external evaluations, research and technical support
  • Actively builds and maintains systems that allow for the growth and development of all direct reports

III. Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours
Essential

  • Senior level MEL managerial experience in international development focused on the global south
  • MEL experience in education, social science, human rights, international development, gender or related field
  • Experience creating compelling MEL products to support strategic planning
