Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. UN Women in Georgia supports state and non-state partners towards the achievement of substantive gender equality in Georgia.
In order to enhance the understanding of various stakeholders (state agencies, local communities, private sector entities and non-governmental organizations) on how they can promote gender diversity in their respective industries, UN Women would like to hire National Consultants/Trainers who will be responsible for developing modules, or using already existing modules developed by UN Women and conducting trainings across Georgia on gender equality and women’s empowerment topics. The topics under the broad heading of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment for the purposes of this ToR include but are not limited to: key concepts to unfold the underlying causes for gender inequality and gender-based discrimination, national and international legal and policy frameworks upholding women’s rights, the Women, Peace and Security agenda, including women’s participation in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and recovery processes; disaster risk reduction and climate resilience, key elements for strengthening women’s leadership and agency, different forms of violence against women and best ways for tackling these (changes in the norms and attitudes, prevention and protection mechanisms, etc.), key elements of women’s economic empowerment, etc. The exact training topics / themes will be discussed and agreed with relevant UN Women staff well in advance with the selected consultant/trainer along with the level of training (introductory or advanced) depending on the target audience.
The consultants/trainers will work under overall supervision of UN Women Country Representative and Deputy Country Representative and day to day management and oversight of UN Women Programme Specialists and Project Analysts as relevant, and will be supported by Project Assistant, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
Academic Background:
- University degree (Master’s) in gender/women’s studies, human rights, sociology, law, international development or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, human rights in combination with additional two years of relevant working experience might be considered in lieu of the master’s degree
Relevant Work Experience:
- At least five (5) years (seven (7) years in case of bachelor’s degree) of relevant professional experience in the field of gender equality and women’s rights
- At least five (5) years (seven (7) years in case of bachelor’s degree) experience of delivering trainings on gender issues to government officials, civil society, private sector companies or grassroots’ communities.
- At least five (5) years (seven (7) years in case of bachelor’s degree) of proven experience in developing training manuals, modules and programmes;
- Sound understanding of interactive learning methods and adult-learning techniques
