Purpose of the Consultancy

Girls Not Brides, together with UNICEF, UNFPA, World Vision International, Plan International, Terre des Hommes Netherlands, and ChildFund International, forms the South Asia Technical Working Group on Child Marriage. The Technical Working Group is supporting the SAARC Secretariat to organise the South Asia Regional Forum on Ending Child Marriage in Kathmandu, Nepal. This three-day, multi-stakeholder forum will convene SAARC Member States, UN agencies, civil society organisations, youth advocates, and experts to review regional progress and priorities and develop a collective pathway to end child marriage in South Asia.

On behalf of the South Asia Technical Working Group, Girls Not Brides seek to recruit a short-term consultant to support the organisation and delivery of the South Asia Regional Forum on Ending Child Marriage.

Objectives

The consultant will provide technical and logistical support to achieve the following objectives:

  • Support the effective organisation and completion of the South Asia Regional Forum on Ending Child Marriage.
  • Develop a draft Regional Action Plan to End Child Marriage.

Scope of Work

Technical Support
  • Provide strategic support, including finalising the concept note, and developing and finalizing the agenda, and session design/plans.
  • Develop background documents for the Forum.
  • Coordinate participant invitations and confirmations.
  • Coordinate media and communications related to the Forum.
  • Prepare a report summarising the Forum’s key outcomes.
  • Develop a draft South Asia Regional Action Plan to End Child Marriage.
Logistical Coordination
  • Liaise with the Nepal country offices of Plan International, UNICEF, World Vision, and the SAARC Secretariat to coordinate logistical arrangements including accommodation, meals and airport transfers
  • Manage conference registrations
  • Organise Meeting rooms/ spaces for bilateral conversations as needed
Key Deliverables
The successful completion of the South Asia Regional Forum on Ending Child Marriage including-

  • Providing strategic technical support towards organising the Regional Forum
  • Ensuring a communications package and coordinating all logistical requirements 
  • Documentation of outcomes and developing the Draft South Asia Regional Action Plan on Ending Child Marriage.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 7–10 years of experience working on child, adolescent, and youth rights and/or gender justice in South Asia.
  • Strong understanding of child marriage, girls’ rights, child protection, and gender equality issues in South Asia.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and policy documents.
  • Experience in organising multi-stakeholder convenings
