About the Role
The Operations Lead, Legal Services role is a newly created role designed to help the Directorate run more smoothly by designing and improving the systems and processes that support high quality, client focused legal services. The role works closely with staff at all levels to drive operational discipline, better use of technology, and smarter, data informed decisions. Key responsibilities include:
1.Operational Performance & Oversight
- Develop and implement systems to maintain operational governance and support operational discipline within Legal Services;
- Develop and drive communication structures and processes that support consistent information dissemination and timely, useful information flow across the Legal Services Directorate;
- Deliver, support and track new staff induction to the Legal Services Directorate, to ensure consistent induction and training standards and onboarding experience;
2. Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Legal Services Directorate;
- Identify opportunities for automation, workflow improvement, and scalability;
- Develop and implement processes and systems to meet identified operational inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and process gaps;
3. Technology Enablement
- Support staff to use the file management system according to standard,
- Develop processes and approaches to support staff to learn the technology systems
- Partner with our IT provider or other members of the Operations or Legal Services teams to improve tools and integrations.

Key to your success is your:
- Capability to design and maintain consistent, effective operational systems with a strong client centred focus;
- Proficiency to apply analytical skills and confidently use digital systems (including practice management tools and SharePoint) to improve service delivery;
- Experience to turn operational needs into simple, usable systems, tools and processes; and
- An aptitude to build strong relationships, work across teams and encourage positive shifts in practice without needing formal authority.
You will:
- Bring 4+ years’ experience in operations within a law firm, professional services, and/or community services;
- Experience working within a legal service environment and a strong understanding of how legal teams work (highly desirable);
- Proven ability to implement and embed processes that lift accountability, transparency and practice quality; and
- Skilled in process mapping, workflow optimisation and change implementation.
