About FAWE Tanzania Chapter
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Tanzania Chapter boasts a rich history rooted in a visionary commitment to gender equity in education. Since its inception, FAWE Tanzania has been unwavering in its mission to promote gender equality in education nationwide. As an integral member of a broader network spanning 34 chapters across Sub-Saharan Africa, the chapter has actively collaborated with government entities, local communities, schools, and international organisations to foster an inclusive educational environment.

Purpose of the Consultancy
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop a comprehensive Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy that will guide FAWE Tanzania in preventing, identifying, responding to, and reporting safeguarding concerns involving children and vulnerable adults across all its programmes and operations.

Duration of the Consultancy
The consultancy is expected to be completed within 30 calendar days from the date of signing the contract.
Expected Final Deliverables
By the end of the consultancy, the consultant should submit a comprehensive policy that includes:
 Policy purpose and scope.
 Guiding principles.
 Definitions of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and safeguarding.
 Rights of children and vulnerable persons.
 Code of conduct.
 Expected behaviors and prohibited conduct.
 Recruitment and screening standards.
 Safe programming standards.
 Digital safeguarding.
 Confidentiality and data protection.
 Reporting procedures.
 Incident management process.
 Investigation procedures.
 Survivor-centred approach.
 Roles and responsibilities.
 Accountability mechanisms.
 Policy review schedule.

Qualification Requirements
 At least a Master’s degree in Law, Human Rights, Social Work, Child Protection, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
 Proven experience developing safeguarding policies for NGOs, international organizations, or donor-funded programmes.
 Sound knowledge of Tanzanian child protection legislation and labour laws.
 Familiarity with international safeguarding frameworks and standards.
 Excellent facilitation, analytical, and report-writing skills.
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
 Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Kiswahili will be an added advantage.
