Board Member – Ukuthula
Ukuthula is a mental health and community advocacy organization in Malawi dedicated to driving sustainable, grassroots change through localized training programs, workshops, and community-based interventions. As we expand our regional impact, we are seeking dedicated, forward-thinking individuals to join our Board of Directors.
The Role
Board members provide strategic governance, fiscal oversight, and advocacy to champion Ukuthula’s mission. This is a volunteer position for professionals and activists who want to actively shape the direction of our mental health outreach and organizational growth within Malawi.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Advise on the growth and replication of our localized training models, workshop expansions, and community interventions.
- Governance & Oversight: Review and approve annual budgets, financial statements, and organizational policies to ensure operational integrity.
- Resource Development: Assist in securing strategic partnerships, grants, and funding to ensure Ukuthula's long-term financial sustainability.
- Ambassadorship: Represent Ukuthula within your professional and community networks to raise awareness and build support for our initiatives.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome diverse perspectives, but are particularly looking for individuals with a strong commitment to community-led mental health advocacy and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Non-profit governance, strategic planning, or organizational scaling.
- Financial management, fundraising, or grant writing.
- Grassroots organizing, mental health advocacy, or public health.
- Legal compliance or international partnership development.
Commitment
- Term: A standard two-year term, with the option to renew.
- Meetings: Attendance at quarterly board meetings, which are held entirely virtually.
- Time: Approximately 3–5 hours per month for meeting preparation, committee work, or advisory support.
