About this position  
The Gender and Diversity Division is looking for a dynamic and innovative Gender and Diversity expert who will help us change people lives in Latin America and the Caribbean implementing our operational, economic and sector agenda in this field.
At the Inter-American Development Bank, we are devoted to improving lives. Since 1959, we have been a leading source of long-term financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. We do more than lending though. We partner with our 48-member countries to provide Latin America and the Caribbean with groundbreaking research about relevant development issues, policy advice to inform their decisions, and technical assistance to improve on the planning and execution of projects. For this, we need people who not only have the right skills, but also are passionate about improving lives.
What you will do:
  •        Lead or participate in the origination, design, and preparation of Bank operations.
  •       Lead or participate in the supervision of the execution and the monitoring and evaluation of operations for which the IDB has approved financing.
  •        Lead innovative research on gender and diversity topics, with a focus on issues of race and ethnicity.
  •        Lead the preparation of internal strategic documents and reports reviewing the IDB´s progress in meeting its corporate targets on gender and diversity.
  •       Mainstream gender and diversity in operational, analytical, and strategic activities (including country strategies, country development challenges, loans, policy dialogues, events, and knowledge initiatives).
  •        Collaborate with activities of the IDB Invest and IDB Lab.
  •       Lead policy dialogue with Government authorities and development partners based on your proven knowledge of the topics, development challenges of client countries, and IDB policies, strategies, and guidelines.
  •      Share and disseminate economic/sector knowledge and learning tools to improve the relevance of the IDB to borrowing countries and the region.
  Build networks and actively engage with gender and diversity specialists in other multilateral and bilateral institutions, academic institutions, think-tanks, NGOs and professional bodies to promote cooperative research initiatives.
What you will need:
Education: Ph.D. in Public Policy or applied economics.
Experience: At least 10 years of relevant development policy experience. Published analytical work on issues of race and ethnicity. Project management experience. Strong technical knowledge of policies that have been proven effective at closing gender and diversity gaps, with special focus on racial issues. Experience working with governments; excellent writing and oral communication skills. Strong econometric, quantitative, and analytical skills. Experience mentoring junior colleagues.
Languages: You are proficient in Spanish and English. Your Portuguese or French knowledge would be a plus.
