Background:

The work of UN Women’s Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section is focused on a comprehensive approach to ending violence against women that addresses legislation and policies, prevention, services for survivors, research and data, creating safe public spaces in different settings and strengthening women’s rights movements to end violence against women. The Section through multistakeholder partnerships support the delivery of transformational progress towards the elimination and prevention of violence against women through four concrete actions: (1) Creating enabling policy, legal and resource environments; (2) Scaling up evidence driven prevention programming;(3) Scaling up comprehensive, accessible and quality services for survivors; and (4) Enabling and empowering autonomous girl-led & women’s rights organizations to exercise their expertise.
Under the direct supervision of the Policy Advisor, Ending Violence against Women/Deputy Section Chief, and with dual lines of reporting to the Section Chief, the Programme Associate provides administrative and programme operational support to the Policy Advisor, Ending Violence against Women/Deputy Section Chief and Policy Specialists in the Section to support the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations. The Programme Associate contributes to financial management and programme implementation, including providing necessary operational and administrative support with high quality and timeliness in line with corporate principles, rules, policies and operational strategies.
The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects’ staff in the UN Women EVAW Section including staff based in Nairobi and New York duty stations and liaising with other departments as required for resolving complex finance-related issues and exchange of information.
Recruitment Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary education is required.
• Specialized certificate in finance, accounting, management and/or secretarial skills highly desirable.
• At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management support;
• Experience in finance, budget management, and procurement is required;
• Experience in working in a computer environment using multiple office software packages is required;
• Experience in supporting a team is required;
• Experience within the UN System is desirable.
• Fluency in English is required.
