Key Responsibilities
Grant Development & Strategy Leadership (50%)
- Lead the development and execution of Pride Toronto’s annual grants strategy to meet and exceed revenue targets (e.g., $500,000+ annually).
- Diversify funding sources across municipal, provincial, federal, corporate, and foundation funders.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new grant opportunities to build a sustainable, multi-year funding pipeline.
- Strengthen and steward relationships with existing funders to support renewals and long-term partnerships.
- Oversee the full grant lifecycle, including prospecting, cultivation, proposal development, submission, reporting, compliance, stewardship, and renewals.
Collaboration and Partnership Management (10%):
- Cultivate and steward relationships with funders, institutional partners, and community stakeholders.
- Represent Pride Toronto in meetings with government and foundation grant officers.
- Coordinate site visits, recognition initiatives, and ongoing funder engagement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather budgets, metrics, and program narratives.
- Assist with festival delivery and assigned cross-department initiatives.
Fund Development & Donor Engagement (40%)
- In collaboration with the Director of Development & Community Engagement and the Executive Director set funding priorities.
- Develop a phased, multi-year strategy and implement an individual giving program through direct mail, online donations, monthly giving, third-party, and individual major gifts.
- Support execution of annual fundraising campaigns and donor engagement initiatives.
- Assist in developing sponsorship and institutional funding packages.
- Contribute to individual giving, corporate giving, and festival donation campaigns.
- Develop donor communications including appeal letters, case for support materials, and impact messaging in collaboration with Communications.
- Maintain accurate donor and grant records
- Lead donation campaign during festival month.
- Develop all communication materials as required in collaboration with Communications - appeal letters, donor correspondence, case for support, etc.
Qualifications
Qualifications and skills required of the role:
- 3+ years of grant writing and institutional fundraising experience, with a strong track record securing government and foundation funding
- Proven success securing philanthropic support, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships
- Strong financial literacy, with experience developing, managing, and reporting on budgets and forecasts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders sensitively
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously
- Strong networking skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic fundraising plans
- Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with CRMs (DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) is an asset.
- Experience in nonprofit, arts, culture, or community-based organizations preferred
- Strong administrative, record-keeping, and accountability skills
