We support locally-led development by offering 9- month technical training to early-stage, grassroots & implementing organizations in East Africa.
Our main goals are to:
- Run cost-effective and impactful approaches that support proximate leaders in developing their organizations.
- Reduce donor dependency as the key to building resilience for locally-led organizations.
- Shift focus from short-term aid to sustainable, community-initiated solutions that support proximate leaders to drive their futures.
- Be a connector, bringing together the doers and the donors.
MAMA HOPE is recruiting mentors for our upcoming Localization Development Accelerator (LDA) cohort, and we’d love for you to apply.
This year, we are partnering with 20 new locally-led organizations across East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda), and mentorship is a core pillar of what makes this program impactful.
Mentors walk alongside proximate leaders as thought partners, offering perspective, encouragement, and practical insight as they strengthen their organizational systems over a 9-month journey.
Mentor commitment:
- 15 volunteer hours over 9 months
- Monthly 1:1 check-ins with a partner leader
- Orientation + PitchFest capstone participation.
If you’re a leader, practitioner, or subject-matter expert who believes in locally-led solutions and shifting power in global development, we invite you to apply to be a mentor.
