About Loving Me

Loving Me is a by-and-for domestic abuse service for Trans+ people, providing specialist support, advocacy and safe accommodation to transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people aged 18+ across England.

In 2023, we opened the UK’s first Trans+ domestic abuse refuge, offering safe, affirming accommodation for people at risk of harm. Loving Me is led and delivered by trans people with lived experience, ensuring our services are trauma-informed, gender-affirming and rooted in community need.

Loving Me is based at the Emily Davison Centre, home to over 40 practitioners working together to support people affected by abuse, violence and exploitation.

Roles Available

We are expanding our team and are currently recruiting for four exciting roles within Loving Me:

Domestic Abuse Support Worker (Frontline)
You will provide high-quality, trauma-informed support to Trans+ adults experiencing domestic abuse, including those living in the Loving Me refuge. This role involves risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, safeguarding, and multi-agency working.

Domestic Abuse Young People’s Support Worker (Trans+)

This specialist role focuses on Trans+ young adults aged 18–25, many of whom face family rejection, isolation and multiple barriers to safety. You will deliver one-to-one and group support, advocacy, safeguarding, and work across the North West to increase access to inclusive services.

Social Work Degree Apprentice (BA Social Work – UCLan)
This is a paid apprenticeship combining frontline practice with a BA in Social Work at the University of Central Lancashire. Tuition fees are fully covered. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting Trans+ survivors of domestic abuse while studying toward professional qualification.

Time to Shine Leadership Role (Rank Foundation Programme)

This role is part of the Rank Foundation Time to Shine leadership programme, with 15% of time spent in external leadership development. You’ll support service delivery while building confidence, leadership skills and experience in the domestic abuse and LGBTQ+ sectors.

What All Roles Have in Common

Across all positions, you will:

  • Deliver trauma-informed, victim-led, gender-affirming support
  • Work with Trans+ people experiencing domestic abuse and exploitation
  • Carry a caseload and maintain accurate, confidential records
  • Manage safeguarding and risk, including high-risk situations
  • Advocate for survivors with housing, health, legal and statutory services
  • Work collaboratively with LGBTQ+, domestic abuse and statutory partners
  • Champion intersectional, anti-oppressive and trans-inclusive practice
Who We’re Looking For

We are keen to hear from people who:

  • Have experience (paid, voluntary or lived) of working with Trans+ communities
  • Understand domestic abuse, coercive control and safeguarding
  • Are committed to survivor-led, empowering practice
  • Can work under pressure and respond effectively to crisis
  • Want to be part of a values-led, trans-led organisation
Each role has its own Person Specification outlining essential and desirable criteria.
