Our key areas of focus include education, child protection, food security, social support, and advocacy to drive lasting change in children's lives.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Gender Equality Technical Advisor uses their in-depth contextual understanding, technical and practical expertise, and relationship building skills to define and deliver our strategic ambition for advancing gender equality in Ukraine.
The role leads strategy development and the technical design, implementation and measurement of high quality programmes that advance gender equality and ensure that children in all their diversities can equitably access, participate within, benefit from and act as decision makers for both humanitarian and development programming. The post holder works with all sectors and functions of the organisation to mainstream gender and address GBV risks across the programme cycle.
The role provides leadership to ensure our work is grounded on intersectional gender and power analysis, and supports the design and implementation of gender sensitive monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact, while sharing learning across our programmes, teams and partners. As a part of SIDA CSO project the role holder will work closely with implementing partners fostering the building of ownership and agency of local organisations. It provides leadership to design, adapt and deliver gender sensitive- and -transformative content for capacity building and system strengthening of partners.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Women and Gender Studies or related degree with focus on gender equality and inclusion in international development, social work, public health, sociology, anthropology or related area, or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience working on gender issues ad providing technical leadership for the design and implementation of humanitarian and/or development programmes focused on advancing gender equality, including experience with humanitarian response
- Strong understanding of gender equality and GBV principles, practices and humanitarian standards; relevant national and global gender-focused policy priorities; and key gender inequalities impacting children in Ukraine.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge and skills related to gender sensitive and transformative programme design and fundraising, monitoring and evaluation, including designing pathways to sustainable impact at scale.
- Significant experience in gender equality training, capacity building, and mentoring, and a demonstrated ability to make complex concepts compelling and accessible.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to intersectional gender and power analysis, and the design, piloting, implementation and evaluation of innovative technical tools and resources to advance gender equality through programming and advocacy initiatives.
- Skilled at networking, representation and partnership development in order to promote learning, strengthen civil society and mobilise resources.
- Able to generate and use data and evidence to innovate, deliver, learn and share what works and what does not work for addressing the root causes of harmful gender norms and promoting gender equality for and with children.
- A high level of written and spoken English, Ukrainian and Russian languages, including an ability to write clear and well-argued reports.
