Role Outline
The Technology Facilitated Abuse Project Manager of the Technology-Facilitated Abuse & Economic Empowerment team supports the service to raise awareness of the growing threat of technology-facilitated domestic abuse. The post holder will work with the Head of Services to implement Refuge’s tech strategy to ensure that Refuge continues to learn about and respond to changing technological developments and their ability to both isolate and empower potential and actual victims. The postholder will help Refuge cultivate a learning culture around technology and will work with senior Refuge colleagues and specific partner organisations to enable Refuge to develop resources such as information materials, curricula, and training programmes. Working with the Head of Service, the postholder will ensure that Refuge systematically maintains and constantly updates its tech empowerment knowledge amongst its entire staff and that Refuge is constantly listening and learning from survivors and frontline staff about tech abuse and empowerment. The Technology Facilitated Abuse Project Manager will help monitor Refuge’s anonymised aggregated data about perpetrators’ abuse of technology as well as sharing the technological solutions and effective strategies developed by staff and survivors to improve understanding and competence across the organisation.
Person Specification Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
• In-depth understanding of technology-facilitated abuse, and how it is used against women and girls.
• Current, up to date knowledge and understanding of the various tech platforms used e.g., commonly used apps and devices, including highly specialist knowledge about privacy and safety considerations.
• In-depth understanding of the needs of survivors and their children impacted by technologyfacilitated abuse.
• Experience of project management and delivery of projects, managing targets and deadlines.
• A thorough understanding of safeguarding in the context of vulnerable adults and children in relation to technology-facilitated abuse
• Experience of successfully managing change.
• A strong track record in delivering evidence based, outcomes focused services with excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and the impact of technologyfacilitated abuse on survivors and their children.
