Gender-based violence (GBV) LGBTQI+ rights/ SOGIESC
MenEngage Europe is seeking an experienced, visionary and values-driven Director to lead the network through its next phase of growth and consolidation.

Reporting directly to the Board, the Director will: 

  • Provide strategic leadership and ensure implementation of the multi-annual work programme.
  • Lead the newly established Secretariat and manage a small, dynamic team.
  • Oversee operational, financial and accountability systems.
  • Strengthen partnerships and represent MEE in European and global forums.
  • Foster collaboration and capacity-building across the network.
  • Uphold and embody feminist values and intersectional approaches in all aspects of leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and implementation aligned with MEE​’s mission and values.
  • Oversee day-to-day management, including budgeting, monitoring and staff supervision.
  • Maintain compliance and transparency in all financial and legal matters.
  • Represent MEE in advocacy efforts, partnerships and public engagements across Europe.
  • Support governance processes and strengthen the relationship between the Secretariat and Board.
  • Promote learning, capacity building and inclusive participation within the network

Essential qualifications & experience
  • Minimum 5 – 8 years’ leadership experience in an NGO or network, ideally in feminist or social justice contexts.
  • Proven experience in project planning, financial oversight and donor relations (EU funding experience desirable).
  • Strong advocacy, communication and partnership-building skills
  • Demonstrated coaching and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to support, empower and develop teams.
  • Listening and collaborative approach, fostering trust, shared ownership and open communication.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset, able to navigate complexity with clarity and calm.
  • Commitment to feminist values, intersectionality and antiracist principles.
  • Excellent command of English; ability to work effectively across cultures.
  • Ability to travel within Europe and manage remote/​hybrid teams. 

Desirable
  • Knowledge of European institutions and gender equality frameworks.
  • Experience from gender-transformative work with men and boys
  • Fluency in additional European languages.
  • Experience in fundraising
