Gender-based violence (GBV)
1. BACKGROUND TO THE ASSIGNMENT:Provide brief background to project and how it aligns to International Medical Corps objectives and priorities.

International Medical Corps (IMC) is implementing a comprehensive Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response program in Ukraine since 2014. Recognizing the critical role of men and boys in challenging harmful gender norms and preventing violence against women and girls. The consultant will support the development of a contextualized Male Engagement Strategy for GBV prevention in Ukraine. 


3. SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

•             Work closely with GBV Coordinator/GBV Manager/GBV Technical Advisor, as relevant, to  achieve the goals of the consultancy.
•             Coordinate with partner agencies, as relevant, to organize roundtable, training and support capacity strengthening needs.
•             Ensure adherence to IMC’s GBV Minimum Standards, as well as relevant inter-agency guidelines and standards
•             Coordinate with government focal points, local partners, and women’s networks to develop appropriate GBV prevention strategies and approaches
•             Conduct a rapid desk review of global and regional practices on engaging men and boys for GBV prevention, with focus on conflict and post-conflict settings.
•             Facilitate at least one roundtable discussion with national/local actors on male engagement in Ukraine, guiding evidence-based dialogue and contextual adaptation.
•             Provide technical inputs for a consecutive roundtable focused on engaging veterans in social and gender norms change.•             Ensure consideration of relevant Ukrainian legislation, particularly regulations governing work with adolescents, including age-specific restrictions, consent requirements, and necessary approvals for engagement in awareness-raising or educational activities.
•             Develop and deliver training modules for service providers specifically with those engaged within the scope of the project on male engagement approaches, adapted to the Ukrainian context.
•             Lead the drafting of a contextualized Male Engagement Strategy for GBV Prevention in Ukraine, including key recommendations for piloting in communities.

             Provide recommendations for long-term scaling and institutionalization of male engagement programming in Ukraine.
•             Submit a final consultancy report summarizing activities, lessons learned, and recommendations


Qualifications (
 Advanced degree in social sciences such as gender studies, social work, human rights, or any other relevant field |  
 Minimum 7 years related experience in GBV prevention, gender equality, and male engagement programming. |  
 •             Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing male engagement strategies in GBV prevention, ideally in conflict or humanitarian contexts. Familiarity with male engagement approaches, including EMAP, SASA! and Tipping Point or others.
•             Demonstrated application of GBV core competencies and commitment to core principles of GBV programming•             Strong facilitation skills and experience leading participatory workshops/roundtables.
•             Familiarity with Ukrainian or Eastern European socio-cultural context is strongly preferred.
•             Knowledge of standards and guidance related to protection from SEA
•             Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, empowerment of WROs/WLOs, and feminist principles
.•             Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills; both oral and written
•             Ability to work independently and proactively,
•             Fluency in English required;
