Job Description

Overall vision for the role
We are looking for a self-motivated communications professional to join the MenEngage Alliance team. You will work closely with the Communications Manager to deliver on day-to-day communications and support the implementation of our communications and knowledge management strategy, from the promotion of events, to coordinating the Communications Working Group, to elevating our advocacy, activism, and knowledge-building online.

As Communications Officer, you will tap into the collective wisdom of the world’s largest civil-society community for working with men and boys for gender equality in order to craft compelling communications content to push forward the work of gender, climate, and social justice for all.

If you have a passion for applying intersectional feminist thinking to the subject of men and boys, and the skill to translate that insight into high-impact, relatable communications that shape the public conversation, this role may be for you.

Key Competencies
  • At least 5 years of experience working in non-profit organization communications;

  • Commitment to women’s rights and gender justice for all and the MenEngage Alliance Accountability Framework, as part of the broader agenda for human rights, climate- and social justice; Demonstrable experience with developing and implementing feminist-informed, decolonial organizational models and cultures that center care, mutuality, collaboration, and power share;

  • Highly organized, independent, and proactive; Demonstrated ability to work together to achieve an impact towards our mission and vision in a dynamic remote team environment;

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills: A track record and portfolio of high-quality written English-language content, and a demonstrated passion and excellence in writing, including about gender justice issues from an intersectional feminist lens, and in accessible language, digesting complex topics into clear, relatable, and compelling content for diverse audiences and channels.

  • Strong grasp of intersectional feminism and the ‘men and masculinities' field: Whether through lived experience, academic study, or other means, a strong understanding of key concepts of intersectional feminism – and how they can be applied to ‘men and masculinities’ – is crucial;

  • Digital storytelling, leveraging our extensive archive of knowledge as well as amplifying the innovative and powerful stories and expertise from across and beyond our network;

  • Passion for social media impact in the ‘men and masculinities’ space: The ideal candidate will be someone with a drive for being on top of the latest social media trends relating to men and masculinities and leveraging opportunities to enter and shift public discourse;
