1. Reporting Line:

The Gender and Human Rights Young Professional Expert (YPE) reports to the Chief of Staff and is coordinated on a daily basis by the Gender Adviser and Human Rights Adviser

2. Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• To contribute to gender and human rights mainstreaming efforts across the Mission, including by supporting implementation and oversight of the Mission’s Human Rights and Gender Action Plans;

• To support systematic gender and human rights analysis of operational findings, including using sex and age disaggregated data;

• To contribute to Mission’s reporting and information flow on gender and human rights related aspects, including through contribution to thematic reports, briefings, assessments and special reports;

• To contribute to the development and periodic review of relevant Mission Standard Operating Procedures with regards to gender and human rights;

• To support and conduct training initiatives on human rights and gender;

• To help coordinate the EUMM gender and human rights focal points networks;

• To support efforts to enhance women’s participation and gender balance in the Mission.

• To support planning and organisation of outreach/events and communication with a focus on gender and human rights, including around global action days.

3. General Tasks and Responsibilities:

• To identify and report on lessons learned and best practices within the respective area of responsibility;

• To take account of gender equality and human rights aspects in the execution of tasks;

• To undertake any other related tasks as requested by the Line Manager(s).

4. Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Successful completion of university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma OR a qualification in the National Qualifications Framework which is equivalent to level 6 in the European Qualifications Framework OR a qualification of the first cycle under the framework of qualifications of the European Higher Education Area, e.g. Bachelor’s Degree;

AND

• 2 years of relevant professional experience, after having fulfilled the education requirements.

5. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Drafting and research skills;

• Strong writing, communication, presentation skills;

• Good organisational and time-management skills;

• Analytical skills and knowledge of information collection and data analysis;

• Knowledge of human rights and gender mainstreaming issues;

• Understanding and sensitivity to the basic principles of human rights legislation and intergroup relations.

6. Desirable Qualifications and Experience: • University or/and Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, Law, Human Rights or International Relations;

• International experience, particularly in crisis areas with multi-national and international organisations;

• Proven track record of planning and implementing projects


7. Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of relevant EU policies and relevant international gender frameworks;

• Experience and/or knowledge of gender and human rights mainstreaming issues, in particular in a post-conflict environment/process;

• Knowledge of Russian and/or Georgian language(s).
