Gender-based violence (GBV) Generic (e.g. 'gender focal point' role Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
Job Description:
Gender Protection Specialist will ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive humanitarian response with a strong focus on safeguarding, protection from Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and upholding the dignity and rights of women, girls, and marginalized groups in crisis-affected areas.
Main Responsibilities:
  •  Lead integration of gender and protection principles across all humanitarian interventions.
  • Conduct rapid gender and protection assessments in affected areas.
  • Provide technical support on GBV, safeguarding, and referral mechanisms.
  • Train field teams and partners on gender-responsive approaches and survivor-centered support.
  • Develop protection messaging (including on SGBV, child protection, and psychosocial support).
  • Coordinate with government and humanitarian actors for referrals and joint response.
  •  Monitor and document gender-based protection risks and response effectiveness.
  • Ensure accountability to affected populations, especially women and girls.
  • Support inclusion of persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups in program design.
  • Contribute to donor reporting and documentation of best practices.
  • Adhere to SPO policies and promote participatory culture and demonstrate SPO’s values
  • Prepare annual/quarterly work plans and reports
Job Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Human Rights, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of GBV response, referral systems, and safeguarding
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in gender and protection programming in humanitarian settings.
  • Experience working with displaced or disaster-affected populations
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and facilitation skills
