Background
As the lead national body for mine action, the Lebanon Mine Action Centre (LMAC) plays a critical role in coordinating efforts to mitigate the impact of Explosives Ordnance (EO), and support the safe return and reintegration of affected populations. Lebanon Mine Action Centre’s (LMAC) capacity for gender mainstreaming and delivering inclusive and genderresponsive services.
Scope of Assignment
Based on the above objectives, the consultancy’s process is expected to include the following activities:
1. Develop training materials and relevant documents :
- Review relevant institutional documents and consult with relevant staff and stakeholders to tailor the training to their operational context.
- Develop a comprehensive and interactive Training of Trainers (ToT) package in Arabic, combining technical gender knowledge, practical tools, and facilitation techniques.
2. Carry out and facilitate training of trainers
- Deliver an in-person, comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops in Arabic for selected LMAC staff and relevant stakeholders within the Regional School for Humanitarian Demining in Lebanon (RSHDL). The workshops will target two distinct cohorts, representing staff and stakeholders (10 to 15 participants per cohort) from different locations. Each cohort will participate in a three-day ToT.
3. Finalize and Produce a Refined Training Manual:
- Based on insights, feedback, and lessons learned during the delivery of the ToT workshops, refine and finalize the Training Manual and produce a Reference Guide on gender for LMAC and the Lebanese Mine action sector. The refined manual will serve as a comprehensive, user-friendly resource for trainees who participated in the ToT, enabling them to confidently conduct further training sessions and act as peer educators within the institution.
4. Provide Targeted Coaching and Mentoring
- Provide four coaching and mentoring sessions for LMAC’s designated gender focal point and relevant stakeholders, strengthening their ability to recognize and address gender-specific needs and promote knowledge-sharing institution-wide.
Requirements for experience and qualifications
I. Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Political Science, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development or related fields
II. Years of experience:
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in conducting gender related work including gender equality, gender mainstreaming, and/or women’s empowerment, with preference for experience in gender and mine action.
III. Technical experience:
- At least 4 years of proven experience in developing and delivering capacity-building programs.
- Experience in desgning and conducting trainings on gender topics through at least 4 trainings, with preference for gender in mine action.
IIV. Competencies:
- Excellent understanding of Lebanon’s context, especially with regards to gender norms
- Experience working with public institutions and governments
- Excellent knowledge of Arabic (written and oral);
