About us: The End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) is a leading UK-wide coalition of +140 women’s support services, researchers, activists, victim/survivors and NGOs working to end violence against women and girls in all its forms. Our vision is of a society where women and girls can live their lives free from violence and the threat of violence.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and manage EVAW’s membership and engagement strategy
• Develop and implement the membership and engagement strategy, which also needs to meet the aims and objectives of the overarching organisational strategy.
• Be across EVAW’s campaigning, policy, communications and public affairs activity – ensuring developments inform the implementation of the membership and engagement strategy.
• Take responsibility for the evolution of the outreach strategy, ensuring regular reviews of membership gaps (in knowledge, expertise, regional representation, communities, connections, etc) and devise iterative and varying strategies to address them.
Governance support
• Work with the chair of EVAW Board’s membership sub-group to ensure effective quarterly meetings, and support induction of new members to the sub-group
• Review incoming membership queries and applications on behalf of the Board, ensuring all the information needed is collected prior to sub-group meetings.
• Working closely with Directors, generating interest throughout the year for joining EVAW’s board of trustees.
• With support from Finance and Office Manager, lead on organising EVAW’s AGM
Member engagement
• Establish and maintain regular engagement between EVAW and members, which are genuinely two-way using a variety of methods, depending on the members’ context. The postholder should support ‘smaller’ members to have an entry point to the engagement with EVAW.
• Deepen mutually beneficial relationships with members, especially those members who find it more challenging to engage with EVAW.
Campaigns and output planning
• Bring intelligence gathered via member engagement into all other areas of EVAW’s work, taking intersecting inequalities into account at all times
• Work closely with EVAW colleagues and members to design and deliver strategic campaigning on VAWG
• Share some broader campaigning related tasks as directed in our small, busy team
Anti-racism analysis
• Contribute to strengthening EVAW’s anti-racism analysis and campaigning by bringing knowledge, insight and suggestions;
• Demonstrate commitment to ensuring values of anti-racism and intersectionality are threaded into all EVAW’s work;
PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Strong knowledge of the different forms of VAWG, and the historical context of the women’s sector
• Experience of working in a VAWG organisation or a related field
• Experience of outreach and building networks with communities of interest and/or organisations
• Knowledge of current local and national policy in relation to VAWG
• Ability to build relationships across our diverse coalition membership
• High degree of self-motivation, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure in a small team
