Your Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage financial strategy and management of $2.5 million nonprofit organization with approximately 15 employees and several contractors
- Work with the ED and the board to maintain the fiscal health of the organization and its assets
- Support the Board, Finance Committee, and ED to ensure all processes and procedures comply with the finance policies of the organization
- Analyze financial data and forecasting
- Present accurate, complete and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports; actively collaborate with the ED, board, and Program Staff to improve usability and accuracy of these reports
- Support the development of financial strategies to ensure long-term sustainability, including monitoring cash flow, conducting scenario planning and risk management, and working with the FC to implement and refine the investment strategy
- Lead all day-to-day finance operations in conjunction with the Accounting Services Firm and monitor their performance
- Includes, but not limited to: tracking of revenue and income; accounts payable; fund allocation; reimbursements; bank reconciliations
- Ensure the organization and its fiscally sponsored program maintain compliance with all nonprofit accounting principles
- Partner with the ED, Program Leadership, HR and IT Consultants to enhance and better integrate administrative functions
- Administration of QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Bill.com, Expensify, and other online systems
- Responsible for biweekly payroll processing in Gusto, including processing of retirement contributions, payroll withholdings, and reimbursements
- Represent MAP and provide leadership and technical assistance in collaborative movement networks and for MAP’s movement capacity programmatic work
- Participate and represent MAP in the LGBTQI+ CFO Network
- Be a strategic thought partner and financial expert for MAP Program Staff working on our movement capacity work, which seeks to better understand and inform the financial, operational, and programmatic capacity of the movements MAP powers
Your Qualifications & Competencies
- MBA/CPA or advanced degree in a related field or 10+ years’ equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 7 years of nonprofit finance experience, with proven growth and at least 2 years in a senior-level position
- Demonstrated experience with compliance, reporting, and management of corporate and foundation grants
- Expertise in nonprofit accounting principles and compliance requirements
- Ability to translate financial data and analysis to programmatic and fundraising colleagues, as well as the Board of Directors
- Demonstrated experience administering payroll required (and employee benefits administration preferred)
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software is required
- Strong commitment to progressive values and issues—including LGBTQ issues
- Proficiency with Quickbooks Online and Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
