THE POSITION
 
IDLO is seeking a Gender and Law Specialist to support the implementation of its current gender strategy. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Legal Advisor on Gender, the Gender and Law Specialist will be asked to perform the following duties:
  • Support the implementation of IDLO’s current Gender Strategy, including through strategy roll-out workshops, monitoring compliance with organizational targets and indicators; supporting application of IDLO’s gender tools, including the drafting of gender analysis and gender integration plans; and reporting on results;
  • Contribute to the development of IDLO’s gender thematic programs, with a focus on these priority areas: (i) elimination of discriminatory Laws; (ii) gender-based violence against women and girls (GBV); (iii) women’s participation in the justice sector; (iv) women’s economic empowerment and (v) feminist action for climate justice;
  • Provide technical advice and related support to IDLO program teams in integrating gender in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, with a focus on countries in Africa and Asia;
  • Advance IDLO’s gender and climate portfolio, including by providing technical assistance on climate and land programming, developing research products on rule of law approaches to feminist action for climate justice; and convening policy events on this theme;
  • Support IDLO’s policy work on justice for women at the national, regional and global levels, including in key events related to CSW, Generation Equality, UNFCCC COP, among others.
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of IDLO’s priority policy briefs and research reports on gender and justice;
  • Strengthen IDLO’s community of practice on gender, including maintaining IDLO’s weekly gender news feed, organizing gender briefings and targeted webinars, and supporting the IDLO’s justice for women and girls cluster;
  • Support preparation of expert group meetings, workshops and other events on justice for women. This may include tasks related to developing concept notes, providing background research, coordinating the agenda, organizing the event and documentation;
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.
