About Global Philanthropy Project
Global Philanthropy Project (GPP) is a collaboration of funders and philanthropic advisors working to expand global philanthropic support to advance the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people in the Global South and East.
Responsibilities and Activities
Task Force Coordination
- Lead the Responding to Anti-Gender Ideology (RAGI) Funders’ Task Force through managing task force members and key stakeholders, developing meeting agendas and preparatory materials, and facilitating meetings.
- Coordinate with the RAGI Task Force co-chairs to track trends in the field and philanthropic sector and refine the strategic direction of the task force in response to emerging trends.
- Support and increase membership in the Task Force, communicate regularly with members, and integrate themes from the Task Force into other GPP programs and platforms.
Donor Engagement
- Implement the strategy of the Philanthropic Field Engagement program that 1) engages the gender justice philanthropic sector to maintain, diversify, and increase their funding to global LGBTI movements and 2) mobilizes funders in adjacent sectors (gender equality, human rights, democracy and civic space, and climate justice) to increase support for LGBTI movements within their strategic priorities.
- Develop tailored advisory briefs and presentations for different audiences, including philanthropic institutions, allied philanthropic networks, and civil society organizations.
- Work with the Director of Philanthropic Field Engagement to cultivate and facilitate virtual and in-person funder convenings through GPP’s diverse funder organizing initiatives.
Fundraising, Budgeting, Communications and Reporting
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Development and Advancement to develop and respond to fundraising opportunities and proposals.
- Support the development of communications on GPP’s philanthropic field engagement to GPP members and external audiences through newsletters, listserv emails, and digital media communications.
- Support other organization activities and events as needed, and other administrative duties as assigned.
Special Skills and Knowledge
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience as a program officer, advocacy advisor or similar role.
- High-level analytical skills, with demonstrated experience in producing advocacy materials and conducting research to inform advocacy strategies.
- Minimum of five years of working at a foundation or an international development or human rights organization in a related field, ideally with experience related to LGBTI-specific or inclusive gender justice movements.
- Knowledge of the LGBTI and gender justice philanthropic sector, including the key institutions and political dynamics that influence the funding landscape.
- Knowledge of key trends in the LGBTI and gender justice field, especially the link between anti-gender and anti-rights forces and the global rise of authoritarianism.
- Excellent written and public speaking communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to work remotely and independently, prioritize and complete multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent attention to detail.
