Communications Associate (20 hours/week)
The Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) seeks a long-term Communications Associate to join our dynamic team working for climate justice, systemic change, and women’s and feminist leadership in global climate solutions.
With the guidance of WECAN’s Communications Coordinator, the Communications Associate will work remotely to contribute to storytelling and advocacy on WECAN’s social media platforms, videos, and news articles. The Communications Associate will work with the Communications Coordinator to develop and implement social media strategies to enhance WECAN’s online presence, raise awareness about our programs and campaigns, and drive engagement. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker who can manage multiple social media platforms, create compelling content, and analyze performance metrics. Additional responsibilities include supporting video content and creation, contributing to article writing, and providing administrative support for other communications needs.
This is a remote, part-time position in the United States. Compensation is $32,500 and includes a benefits package. There may be an opportunity to develop this position into a full-time role.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Provide administrative and press support across all communications, including drafting press releases, conducting media and partner outreach, and maintaining the WECAN website.
- Create, curate, and manage social media content, including researching stories, writing content, and creating visual content (graphics, video clips, etc.).
- Identify target audiences, develop innovative messaging ideas, stay updated on industry trends, and adjust strategies to grow WECAN’s presence on social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook).
- Work closely with the Communications Coordinator and other team members to align social media efforts with broader communications strategies.
- Track and analyze social media performance metrics.
- Engage with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely manner.
- Provide copy-editing support for WECAN communications.
- Contribute to the overarching WECAN narrative strategies.
- Support drafting and creating outlines and scripts for WECAN videos.
- Support drafting articles and op-eds.
Hiring Timeline:
