Global Health partnership GHP (formerly THET) works to strengthen local health systems and build a healthier future by working through partnerships between UK and LMIC (Low- and Middle-Income Countries) health institutions to strengthen the health workforce and the system within which it operates. We are a global health organization that has been managing donor funds to deliver Health System Strengthening (HSS) and Human Resources for Health (HRH) programs for over 30 years to ensure everyone, everywhere, has access to quality healthcare.
2. Objective of the Assignment
To provide expert-level technical support and international perspectives to the local consultants leading the review and harmonization of Family Planning and Gender Based Violence training materials, ensuring alignment with global best practices, quality standards, and relevance to the Somaliland health system.
Scope of Work
The expert volunteers will work collaboratively with the local consultants, the Ministry of Health Development, and the GHP team. The role includes the following key support tasks: Family Planning (FP) Training Support
• Review of FP and GBV training materials and provide expert input to align content with current WHO, UNFPA, and other relevant international guidelines.
• Offer Mer guidance on structuring modules to improve adult learning, inclusivity, and counseling techniques.
• Support the consultants in identifying technical gaps and outdated practices.
• Provide peer-review of the revised FP and GVB curriculum drafts.
• Support the consultants in contextualizing materials for the Somaliland health system. Capacity Strengthening and Peer Collaboration
• Serve as a technical sounding board for the local consultants throughout the assignment.
• Participate in online technical discussions, and joint planning sessions where possible
• Support quality assurance of the training materials including Training manuals and PPT presentations
Methodology
The volunteers will contribute to a participatory and evidence-based review process. Activities will include:
• Remote collaboration with the consultants and GHP team
• Literature and document review (including international toolkits and guidelines)
• Participatory feedback on training manuals and PowerPoint presentations
Deliverables (Support Role)
While the volunteers are not directly responsible for producing final deliverables, they will contribute to the quality and content of the following consultant-led outputs:
• Annotated Family Planning and GBV Training Materials
• Revised Family Planning and GBV Curricula.
• Final Training Manuals including PowerPoint slides
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Advanced degree in Public Health, Reproductive Health, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3- 5 years of international experience in FP and GBV programming, curriculum design, and training.
• Deep familiarity with global guidance on FP and GBV (e.g., WHO Family Planning Handbook, UNFPA toolkits).
• Proven experience supporting curriculum development and training material harmonization in low-resource or fragile contexts
• Strong analytical, editorial, and technical writing skills
• Fluency in English required,
• Previous experience in the Horn of Africa or similar settings preferred
