Job purpose
To overall manage the Oxfam Climate, gender, and Economic Justice Programme in Jordan that is being implemented in vulnerable Jordanian Communities.

Three outcomes contribute to the vision of the Climate, Gender, and Economic Justice pillars:

  • Individuals and communities in Jordan have a better understanding of the impact of climate, gender, and economic change and are more equipped and empowered to adapt to changes through increased knowledge, capacity and opportunities
  • Civil society and local actors are increasingly engaged in community-based solutions that address economic and social inequalities
  • Experience from Oxfam innovation and experimentation inform policy and practice of Government of Jordan in their transition to a green economy.

The three approaches that  underpin Oxfam’s programare:

  • Multistakeholder Participatory approach: through engagement with CSOs, youth, women and gender-based groups, farmers and other community-based groups, academia, key donors, and the private sector, and government.
  • A systems approach: that recognizes the limitations of short-term, technical fixes. We will mobilize to transform the systems that perpetuate over exploitation and misuse of scarce natural resources.
  • Innovation and experimentation: Oxfam will innovate, test, gather evidence, and demonstrate the effectiveness of its interventions before moving to testing for scalability and efficiency.

The key intervention areas would include but not be limited to:

  • Green economic transition: working with enterprises, local authorities and partners, and communities to transition to a sustainable green economy that is inclusive and just
  • Addressing inequalities related to climate and economy that prevent effective participation of vulnerable groups in access to finance, resources and influence in policies
  • Promote economic growth for vulnerable communities through focusing on market system approaches, market linkages, and innovative finance
