AFCHIX is a network of African women in technology who believe that gender diversity is crucial to building a thriving and innovative ICT sector on the continent. AfChix’s mission is to create an exemplary organisation and network of African Women in Computing with a desire to inclusively provide opportunities, mentorship, capacity building, and inspire young generations through role modelling.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Community Manager to lead the mobilisation, attraction, recruitment, coordination, and engagement of the women in the AfChix Community of Women in Technology in line with the organisation’s communication strategy. This role requires someone with experience in community engagement within the tech industry or a tech-related sector who can activate both new and existing members of the AfChix network and has proven experience in managing and growing active, vibrant communities. You will also manage trainee mobilisation, coordinate training activities, and drive active, creative communication through social media, newsletters, and other channels to ensure a vibrant and responsive community.

Qualifications and Experience
- 2+ years of experience in community management or engagement, preferably within the tech sector or tech-related communities.
- Proven track record of building and sustaining vibrant, engaged online and offline communities.
- Proven ability to mobilise and coordinate training or capacity-building programmes will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities for women in technology leadership.
- Experience managing social media and creating engaging digital content, including newsletters and multimedia posts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a talent for fostering community participation and responsiveness.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create engaging content.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks, including event coordination, registration management and deadlines efficiently.
- Ability to initiate ideas, drive engagement, and problem-solve effectively.
- Passionate about empowering women in tech and promoting gender equality.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Technology, Communications, Marketing, or related fields preferred.
- Must have proficiency in using the Google Workspace, community engagement tools, social media analytics, and content creation software.
- Must be an African, residing on the continent.
