This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the engagement (voice and influence) of young people within a new programme focussed on misogyny among young people.

About the Tackling Misogyny Programme

Misogyny is one of the driving forces behind harm to women and girls – and it's harming boys and men too. The growing prevalence of misogynistic content online is normalising the sexual harassment of girls (on and offline), and distorting children and young people's understanding of healthy relationships. Tackling this is key to keeping children safe and preventing harm, including sexual abuse.

We want to work alongside children and young people to help counter dangerous narratives about misogyny. Despite all the focus on this issue, young people's voices are too often missing from the debate, and if it's just adults talking to adults then we won't make the progress we know we need.

Our programme will:

  • Build a group of children and young people (boys as well as girls)who want to drive change.
  • Develop the external partnerships and political relationships we need to influence decision making.
  • Influence change to law and policy that will help keep children andyoung people safer and healthier.
  • Help influence attitudes to spearhead a movement against misogyny amongst young people.
  • Capture the insight from children and young people to inform and upskill our own services and others.

Reporting into the Voice and Influence Team, this role will:

  • Lead on, coordinate and facilitate the children and young people's voice and influence, and overall engagement, in the development, delivery and evaluation of one or more of our signature programmes.
  • Support, inform and guide policy and public affairs, communications and fundraising colleagues to amplify the voice and influence of children and young people within the signature programme/s.
  • Record and report relevant data (quantitative and qualitative) to evidence the outputs, outcomes and impact of children and young people's engagement within the signature programme/s.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal development and learning, ensuring all voice and influence practice is informed by best practice and evidence.
  • Proactively promote, champion and advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and anti-racism in all aspects of the role.

Essential criteria - we're particularly looking for someone who has:

  • Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating strategic voice and influence activities with children and/or young people.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed principles and processes, and their application.
  • At least five years' experience in a role working directly with children and/or young people in a health, social care, education or youth work setting.
  • Understanding, knowledge and experience of - or working within services around - healthy relationships, harmful sexual behaviour and/or child sexual abuse.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate projects, collaboratively and effectively.
  • Excellent collaboration, networking and partnership-working skills.
